Anyone applied/got accepted for FT Social Work? :)

I'm awaiting acceptance/rejection letter. I applied on 15 Feb, they got back to me the next day. Scheduled an interview mid-March, then got rescheduled to 28 March because a member of the faculty wasn't available on the initial date.

For those who are keen to know - Interview experience was quite easy, the essay was straightforward and didn't even require the additional research sources I looked into, but I did use them for the group interview. The cognitive test was nothing taxing - just do what you can. Individual interview questions were basic. If you did your research, you'll be fine. They just want to see that you are genuinely interested and have passion.

I also applied for SIT and went for SIT interview but I have a slim chance there. My GPA is 3.31, diploma in psychology. Honestly would be equally happy if SUSS offers me a place. Both courses I applied for has really good job prospects.

Good luck to those who are waiting for updates!!

Hello! Care to share how the interview was like? (eg: overall of the interview, any tips to share?)

Honestly the interview was pretty chill, the person who interviewed me was one of the marketing lecturers. We mostly talked about the kind of volunteer experience I had, leadership roles...etc. Also there were the basic interview questions, eg. why pick SUSS, what's your strengths & weaknesses, why did you choose the course of study.. oh and idk if it's the same for everyone but my interviewer asked me if i knew about the SUSS education philosophy of Heart, Head and Habit.

I only brought certificates and photocopy of my certificates. I didn't have awards that come in the form of medals and trophies too.

But from my experience right, for registration (before your interview), they already print out the documents (resume/certificates/GPA results) that you uploaded for the uni application. They just want to see the original version for verification purpose. Especially important documents like Olevel Cert and Poly/JC results.. They will look at the serial number at the bottom to ensure its the legit or same one. Cause for mine my serial number for olevel cert happens to be cropped out (the one I uploaded) so its important to bring along the photocopied one.

Erm.. actually apart from the registration one, the rest of the rounds of interview (including the 1-to-1 interview)... they don't really see your portfolio. I went for the group interview (cause mine is Early Childhood). I asked the interviewer if she wants to see our portfolio (example the past work we do) but she say she don't need to see those. Cause she only refers to those documents that are uploaded during the application.

p/s: I actually prepared like alot of things/project that I did during my internship or jobs that are related to the course I applied. But it's sad that they didn't want to see :(

Asked one of my friends (who went for some business interview at SUSS too).. she told me that her interviewer didn't want to see her portfolio too.

I don't know if these applies to all the interviewers or not. :/

Not yet too! ahh, feeling nervous about it tho. not really sure what else to prepare for it.
For the essay, I think you just need to read thoroughly on the article given to you (via email). The essay question will ask you about your views/opinions on the article. So you can more or less predict the question! Do LOTS of research too (example: experts opinion on the issue? how bad is this situation..? statistics?) this things can act as a back up to why you feel a certain way (I feel). By doing so, I believe the interviewer can tell that you did your research well (through your writing). Reaching early = more time to write down the things you memorize (before you forgets) or you can reorganize your thoughts. :)

For the group discussion, research is very important (again) because you never know whether your interviewer will narrow down the topic for you or just throw you a broad topic and for y'all to discuss by yourselves. Either way, the interviewer will still be able to differentiate between those who did ALOT of research and those who did ALITTLE. If you are able to say things that is not being written on the article or even on the video, because you did research by yourself... I think it will definitely be a BONUS for you! And will leave really good impression for the interviewer :)

For 1-to-1 interview, I think it seems like alot of people saying that they will ask questions like "why you want to choose xxx course?", volunteering work and those questions about SUSS (like the head, heart and habit thingy)... :)

If you have prepared yourself in these area.. I think everything will go very smoothly! :)
