A rugged, tough phone is better than having AI, bokeh etc. lah.

小米 phones seems to be getting more fragile with each passing day ... not good enough for outdoor sports activities like cycling, yachting, hiking, mountaineering yo.
CATERPILLAR phones for you?

Xiaomi phone is not designed for outdoor adventure sport uses, it's more for daily lifestyle uses.

Motorola and Sony last time have models with IP67, IP68 protection. My older Motorola phone is waterproof, dust-proof & shock-proof designated.

Android OS should have an option to disable the front camera when it's not in use for privacy protection. Some people apply an opaque sticker on their front camera to deter privacy intrusion. Mark Zuckerberg has got one on his notebook PC's webcam to avoid prying eyes.

wah xiaomi still going on with their own processor :s22::s13:

The Pinecone Surge S2 is rumored to be a 16nm 64-bit octa-core processor, which consists out of four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.8GHz.

That chip is rumored to arrive with the Mali G71 MP8 GPU, and it will supports LPDDR4 RAM. The Surge S2 is rumored to be on the same level of performance as the Kirin 960, which was Huawei’s chip for 2016 and most of 2017. Xiaomi did not list an announcement date on a teaser image, so we’re not sure when will the event take place, but we’re guessing it’s coming soon.
same lvl as kirin 960 means could be same lvl as SD 821? or SD 630/636/650?

With such a powerful front camera, the rear camera isn't a slouch! The Redmi S2 comes with a AI dual camera on its rear, with similar specs as to the flagship Mi 6.

Good job by 小米 team. Especially on the imaging department. The only faults I could pick are :

◎ the double lines on the back is fine with Chinese or eastern culture but don't think it would be favourable accepted elsewhere. Some may find it a turnoff. Why not camouflage them with something more appealing or just hide them using the phone's primary theme colors?

◎ build is not sufficiently rugged for normal day to day usage.

◎ limited color choices. Black and white are must haves. But gold and pink (rose gold) are not.

Maybe the good old Nokia (Lumia) could teach them a thing or two on this very crucial aspect of mobile phone design.
