To help, i whatsapp Venus regarding on the gia diamond fair that they post on their website http://www.venus-tears.jp/sg/blog/2018/05/15/exclusive-diamond-fair-at-jem-outlet/ , they are unable to provide the gia number, only way for you to know is to visit the store.

From what I understand (browsed there once), they only provide internal certificate. Not GIA cert. Quite rare to get these commercial stores to provide GIA cert, much less Venus which is honestly not one of the reputable ones here locally.

Yup bascially all diamonds above 0.3 comes with certification, mostly GIA. They do sell Ideal, but it’s under their parent company house of hung which bascially they are sharing the same retail space.

If you’re getting Ideal from JP, pretty much u can be sure that it’s legit ideal cut as their cuts generally are of stricter standard than other stores.

Their Super ideal are highly raved because the cuts are really better than majority of the branded diamonds and much cheaper, personally me myself I’m also a fan of Super ideal haha.

I also heard that JP offers good rates and cuts. Problem is the design is not very appealing imo. If your SO likes it, then good for you :)

Recently went down to JP to look at the diamonds for SO and her eyes were sparkling when she saw this diamond.

Wanted to ask for you guys on your opinion on this diamond itself. Should I worry that it has so many clarity characteristics.

I was quoted $6280 for this particular piece minus the ring setting. Worth it?

This is an ideal cut yeah? Looks pretty decent except for some black spots on the ASET probably due to the inclusion (which explains its an ideal and not Super ideal).

If you’re not in an hurry, perhaps can look out for better ideal cuts? Provided time is on your side, but to be honest, this piece is decently good for an ideal, if your SO like how it looks, no harm getting it!

Hi all the gurus and pros, it's my turn soon.. and I am a total noob here. If my budget is not extremely high (2-3k), where should I go for an engagement ring. Prefer white gold and extremely simple design (solitaire style? Don't know if I got it correctly)

Also, anyone got sneaky trick to scam the ring size if my SO don't wear rings usually? :s13:

Thank you!

Hi, been lurking around here and chanced upon this interesting post. I was wondering, would JP be able to spot the inclusions if asked? I thought the scopes look pretty decent already. Have you seen better ideal cuts with lesser / smaller black spots or looks cleaner?

Considering all specs equal, how much more would a super ideal cut cost compared to this one? Is it worth the price difference?

Based on my understanding, white spots are better than black spots, and yes, they are definitely able to spot the inclusions if asked, it's just that it's an mutual understanding that ALL ideal cut will have flaws, only Super Ideal would be flawless in terms of scopes and performance.

Yes, there are Ideal cuts without such obvious black spots however, those that are 'clean' usually have other flaws that makes it an ideal instead of super ideal, e.g. the arrows might not be as aligned etc.....hence for ideal cut, you definitely need to compromise on some area.

Super Ideal generally cost about 15% more than Ideal of the same specs, so for a 6k ideal, a super ideal probably is 7k?

As for whether it's worth it, it really depends on individual and it's best if u compare both side by side in person to see if you can notice the extra bling and if u feel it's worth it.

Just to update, maybe in terms of diamond

0.3-0.4 carat, Super Ideal or Octagon cut, Clarity: >VS1 Colour: >F

How much will this cost roughly in JP, anyone has any idea? (want to see if JP is out of my budget...)

House of Hung's owner = 1 of JP's partner's dad.

So basically JP also help to sell HOH's stuff and filter ideal diamonds for people who are not into super ideal or others.

Thanks for the opinion! To be honest, they showed me a 0.77 carat ideal one as well but when compared to this one, this was definitely better in terms of the ASET as well as the bling factor which was why I was definitely more interested in this than that. One other reason was also because the other piece was 300 more than this piece due to the size but the ASET of this one was waaaaaaay better.

However, I do not know how "bad" the ideal was and have no idea whether this piece was decent because I only compared it with just one piece.

Maybe I should look through some of the ASET of older Ideal pieces that people shared in earlier pages.

My colleague just ordered from JP very recently, his is .41 Super Ideal, he says it's 4k? You can call to get a ballpark.

For this carat size I think round or octagon won't look very different so you can consider saving the top up to octagon :)

I realised through my months here that some guys feel lost about choosing diamonds.

Some girls are very into diamonds, some girls can hardly tell apart ring designs and just want "a diamond ring". I think this gives an idea of which way to go (towards higher range or lower range).

To be frank the people here appreciate diamonds more so the pattern is they will move upwards but not everyone has to, especially if your girlfriend states that she doesn't want too fancy (can be size or specs).

As a girl I think it's safest to float the carat size/budget to the girlfriend and see her response. Maybe the guy expects to max budget on quality but the girl prefers maxing size before quality. After all on a mounted ring, size is much more obvious than quality. That said I'm not saying get a bad diamond, at least get something 2EX/3EX or so. :)
