How much isit? Big carat leh
Cost a bomb??

Haha no la...I bought from James Allen at 2.7k + gst 200. Apparently colours like grey, brown, yellow are less expensive than uncoloured (while pink, blue, red, purple ones are much more expensive than white).

I didn't think much as JA had 100% return policy but I heard from here that if I were to return it, I would incur a few hundreds in freight and insurance... so it's very lucky that I saw my diamond and I still love it 😂

I uploaded some videos online, if you google "james allen 1.27ct grey diamond" you will see it 😂 Not confident of linking here as I'm on mobile currently.

In fact I understand what you mean and recently my colleague told me he'd be scared of getting a yellowish diamond online.. but I looked at the JA picture and it was ok + I really thought I could return the diamond if I didn't like it, lol. There is a cloud on the diamond but because of its dark tone, most of the time I can't see it. I think this tone is quite a nice balance between clear and opaque/black which won't show any facets already.

I did do a fair amount of research specifically on coloured diamonds and this diamond passed my criteria (not to mention it's very unique as most grey diamonds are either included/uneven colour/much smaller carat), so I got it.

Edit: Oh yes and why I made my decision was because for white diamonds, they are very common and everyone knows how to critique them but for a grey coloured one, it's mostly just less common and inherently less comparable.

Haha I'm the girl. True, most people will still prefer white as it's most classic but I saw design inspirations from Honey Jewelry and Skind & Co (both non-local btw) which made me more open to grey as well.

I think it looks great. Wear what you like and you can admire it daily. Don’t bother what some negative ppl say.

My girl is proudly wearing something outside from the mainstream as well. I think this gen is more and more accepting and interested in things different from the typical boring norm.

Looks very nice actually! If I had the cash I'd love to get a pair and make into cufflinks :s13:

Hey guys, would you take a 1.55 carat Solasfera or a 1.805 carat Super Ideal Cut? Price-wise the latter is $3k more only. Both looked really good when I went down to JP recently.

Not a big fan of the solasfera so I would say the 1.805 SIC. 2.5 more carats is a very noticeably larger diamond!

Bf wanna get a diamond ring with halo and side diamonds so our main diamond need not be so big. Currently we already placed a deposit at JP/HOH for an E colour diamond but I feel like dropping the colour to an F or even a G to save some costs. I even want to either remove halo or side diamonds and shave a few other hundreds from there but bf is relentless in having both (and irony is I'm the one wearing it but he's paying for it so......)

I heard JP uses solasfera diamonds for their settings.. which explains why I'm afraid G colour might show.. But How true is this? Does this apply even if the diamond was from HOH?

And yes, agreed that this thread should split - Low SES and high SES xD hahahaha

They don't use solasfera melees for the halo/side diamond unless you specifically request for it I think. The norm will be round brilliant cut hearts and arrows melees

Yay that's good to hear! Thank you!!
Actually IMO solasfera melees won't make a center G diamond look more visibly yellow, cos the sparkle of the solasfera is more iridiscent/rainbow... Abit hard to describe, the proper term would be that its scintillation is the fire type (white sparkles) and less of the flash type (coloured sparkles)
