Hi all,
I managed to score a 18 pointer in my 1st attempt today, very lucky to pass but nonetheless I will like to mention that my Manual Car instructor Mr Michael has really been a very patient and knowledgeable instructor throughout these 4 months.

Some info about Michael:
Manual Car
Location: Ubi, always meet at the Coffeeshop beside the driving school.
Speaks Mandarin and English
Patient and very willing to teach
Last lesson is at 4.30 or 6pm, weekdays and weekends
Rates: $36/hr, TP test $250 for car n insurance etc.

Good Luck to all!

Hi Bro, can PM me his contact? Tks.

Hi all,

I would like to share my experience in getting a class 3A licence. I passed my TP on Friday, finally on my 5th attempt. I have taken a total of 4 tests under school a few years back, and was super deomoralised. It felt like I was burning my money. So I stopped driving.

School
I remembered the instructor spent one lesson to teach me braking. What a joke right. What is so hard about braking? It's not that I don't know what they are looking out for after a while. Just that the instructors followed strictly by the book. Each lesson costs me close to $70 for a non-peak session! I also had another instructor who sleeps everytime he gets into the car. Really cannot stand it.

Also, there are a few pick up points for Kovan school. If you are in need of more lessons and the only slots available are those that require you to pick up the car in Punggol, good luck to you. Journey from Punggol to CDC usually takes around 15 mins on the road? Worse, if you take those peak hour sessions, 30 mins can easily be eaten away.

So, 30 mins into the lesson after you reach the circuit, there will be tonnes of other school learners queuing up to practise on the various stations and most of the time I am able to practise only 3 different stations. Freaking waste of my time.

So after my 2 failed attempts at Kovan CDC, I switched to the school in Ubi. I must say I met very nice instructors over there, which made me really regret not going straight to Ubi School in the first place. I would have more time practising in the circuit if I was with Ubi in the first place. But still, I did not manage to pass. I did not take as many lessons as I should. It is really not easy booking lessons using the system on a "first-come-first-serve" basis.

Private
X years later, I decided that I want to drive. I managed to find the contact of my driving instructor, Frankie Yue on this forum. So glad I found the right instructor.

After my first week with him, he helped me to choose a date for my test. I took my first driving lesson with him on 13th June, and I passed my TP on 3rd August. Pretty fast. I feel that he is not out to make you take a lot of lessons if you don't need it. Weeks leading to my test, I was quite kan jiong and wanted to take more lessons but he told me that 2 lessons a week for driving is more than enough. Before I enter the circuit, he taught me parking at those empty HDB carpark lots. So that I don't waste my money fiddling how to do parking in the circuit.

Previously I was so confused by what the school taught; so many reference points to look at. Days before my TP, I will try to recall the steps. However, learning parking with Mr Frankie is easy. I never have to recall anything. It all comes naturally. I never have to pause and recall if my next step is to tilt the mirror or look at which bar touching which colour kerb.

So, highly recommended to engage Mr Frankie! You can ask about his charges yourself! His contact number number is 9631 9527.

Haven't driven in a few years and would like to get an auto refresher.

The ones I've contacted so far are quoting a far higher price than the ones seen in this thread. E.g. someone quoted me 78/hr (1.5hrs min) for their auto refresher.

If anyone has instructors to recommend somewhere in the east, please PM me. Pickup around CDC/ubi/Bedok area would be most ideal.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. It's cheap. Some instructor charge $68 For 90 mins. Circuit $35 additional.

Do you know if $34-35 for circuit would allow you to spend how long at circuit? An hour? An hour and half? Cos my instructor wants to do half circuit, half on the road each lesson, and I think that's very costly for me, especially since he recommends to book about 20 lessons? And I heard from friends that it's not really necessary to have so many circuit lessons since you can practice parking and all that elsewhere. Can someone please help? :(

Hi guys, for private candidate, is there a need to attend some risk forecast training or driving simulation before being able to take TP?
