Gaming PC Build [Intel/Ryzen]

Hey Guys,

I am still learning the ropes of PC Building and hope to DIY my very own PC in the near future. Aiming to build the PC with a Black and White Theme in mind with the goal of playing AAA Titles at 144Hz.

I hope that some of you guys can provide some comments on the build I have put together based on the pricelist from Dynacore. Thank you so much!

1. For gaming only, the Intel is a bit better
2. Skip Asus, you overpay. Get Asrock or something.
3. The 1070Ti is overpriced. Either get a 1080Ti second hand, or wait for the 20XX series to hit shelves.

Monitor will be the Acer Predator XB241H.

The ASRock Taichi series are good quality motherboards and more value for money. Get the X470 Taichi Ultimate only if you need an 10GB Ethernet port, else the standard X470 Taichi motherboard is cheaper and quite identical to the Ultimate version.

Some of the benefits changing to Ryzen

1. Clearly, Intel is slightly better than AMD in term of raw FPS. However, you probably won't tell the difference in real life unless you turn on FPS meter. Anything above 100fps, "normal" gamers cant see the diff already.

2. Don't need to care about deliding. But in your case, you can ignore it because 8600k isn't that hot. I7 8700k is super duper hot without deliding.

3. No more performance impact due to Spectre/Meltdown.

4. More core/threads = can open more things in the background.

I'm using 8600K@5Ghz right now but planning to switch soon. 2700X here I come.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! Was looking at Ryzen CPUs for quite awhile but was always biased towards Intel based on statistics of the higher raw FPS that Intel gives. This has certainly opened up my options. Will look more into a Ryzen Build.

ryzen CPU offer better heat dissipation cos it is solder with IHS.

Well, Opinions vary from person to person. To me, it's overpriced for a reason.

My experience of Asus ROG mainboards is very good. I'm using Gigabyte Aorus 7 now but Asus BIOS is still better. On a side note, Asus RGB have more options ( in case you care )
Just avoid Gigabyte Aorus 3 if you intend to overlock.

I know it's way more expensive but Logitech G903 is the best wireless mouse out there.

For graphic card, It's better to buy 2nd hand 1080/Ti ( with warranty)

Don't really need much RGB options since the light is going to be white all the time . On a side note what do you think of the MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon?

Too bad I can't game on a wireless mouse, just can't get used to it. I will see how the GPU prices go. Not many on Carousell at the moment.

So many used 1080/1080Ti on Carousell now :O how come u say not many :O

Never used MSI mainboard before so cant comment on that. But I prefer Asrock for its look and ... capacitors.

I used to think gaming mouse must be wired since I mostly play FPS games ( owned countless mice in the past, everytime I bought wireless mouse, I go back to wired immediately)

Until I found G900, I just cant go back to wired anymore.

I can never use wireless. Use halfway, battery die while playing dota or fps. See how much your teammates love you.
