My rotary drum filter sprung a leak. Just ordered $100 in parts from RS Components to do a fix.

No more MIC PU tubing of questionable quality. Just replaced it last year and leaking again. Went all out for Japanese made fluoropolymer tubing. Rated for 16 bar, which is twice what the PU tubing is rated for. Immune to UV too, not just merely resistant.

System is now in bypass mode. Gonna need to do big cleaning when the fix is done. Solid waste is now not being filtered.

Haha. Haven't found any shrimps in my hang on filter. But always find them in my surface skimmer. Now i took that out cause waiting for the eggs to hatch. Last time the inlet that sponge of the hang on when i take out got baby shrimp swim out.

Later go buy glass shrimp for my betta tank. Now betta still in quarantine. So I introduce the shrimp first let them relax abit then introduce betta in hopes that they don’t see the shrimp as something encroaching on their territory.

Shrimp is my solution to cleaning up waste

You dont need skimmer if you have hob/hof. The water throw out from filter will break water surface and "skim" surface protein and oil.

Lucky you are not away for holiday when disaster like this happen. Despite going jap component, maybe also a good idea to plan for backup filtration. Fail safe for your expensive fish and pond setup.

Glass shrimp will not help in algae. Will help in eating left over food thou.

You can also add red ramshorn snails etc if you want a more complete ecosystem.

my HOF water outlet under the water. cause my tank usually almost 1cm off the brim only. So the surface tend to have oil / protein stuck so use surface filter. but took out temp until my shrimp hatch. :):)

Why is it called 吐血? Because of the fan-shaped?
