I actually don't buy into this DXO results. To me its quite dodgy, plus it is very subjected to the person performing the test. I rather you go down and test it on your own.

i actually dont trust my own shots, take 3 shots all different :s13::s13:

at least this one is done by "professionals" and results cannot be too far off la. otherwise undermine themselves.

of course take the dxo mark with a pinch of salt. but it is the best (and only?) test currently to gauge where the hp cameras stand

haah, hope not so much of the price

Highest spec (non-Porsche design) will probably cost close to 1.8K SGD
(Based on rumored RRP if USD1100 for the lower version)

Announcement of iPhone XS max gives them a pricing gauge. So IMHO they can sell a bit higher than P20 pro but still lower than XS max

DXO is a good gauge for the image sensors but for performance wise there is alot of things to consider. Software rendering, focusing speed.. Somehow I find their HDR abit extreme on certain scene and got to manually turn off. I hope the mate 20 can fix that issue. :)

As for iphone XS series, their camera improve alot with their HDR features too.. so i don't think it really sucks but more on the user who use the phone/camera.

pity about the antutu scores of about 310k. which puts it closer to the sd845 (10nm SOC) than the A12 (7nm).

I had hopes up after the 980 leaked scores of almost 350k back in April. I guess scores reduced after the recent news about cheating in benchmarks

These scores do not mean anything to 99.999% of users. Not forgetting, scores will be different even in the same model depending on the batch and lot, even individual chips. Other factors count as well, for example the testing condition etc. So it doesn't represent real life usage score

Same goes to the DXO camera scores. We are also using DXO Lab scores for all other cameras. For those, unless one does pixel peeping and compare side by side, nobody will even notice.

benchmarks give a good indication. a phone with clearly higher benchmarks will consistently outperform a lower phone **when stressed**.

But I'm not one who switches between 20-30 apps all the time, so this may not be a big difference to me most of the time.

That said, 980 is a marked improvement over 970.

Which one is actually Huawei flagship phone? P or the Mate?

I don’t want buy Mate 20 then only to realise P20 is the real deal.

Both mate and p version are flagship.
6 months different phone. Basically 6 mths later p30 might better than mate 20

Mate series is the flagship. You can see it just by looking at the launching prices

That's a £100 price premium compared to the P20 Pro's price, and a £130 hike coming from the Mate 10 Pro. So it looks like Huawei doesn't want to ignore one of the most prevailing trends of the past year in the smartphone world - price increases for flagships across the board.
