Xr is released on 26th Oct. If want to buy Xs max to try first, do some earliest 12th Oct if not by 26th it will have missed the 14 day return window.

But there are open-box and restocking fees for iPhones and iPads? Or now don’t have already?

don't think that applies for the Apple Store.

you can always ask them. was advised by a sales guy there last year to buy a 6s and tahan for 2 weeks until nov 3rd to buy the X.

if you tell them your plan they will advise you to buy and return

Still have bro. Got fees for returns on iPads and iPhones. I think only the US got the liability-free returns service.

i've returned quite a few iPhones and iPads within the 14 days and never got charged for it before

That’s good sia. The policy is up at the website though about the fees applicable during returning. So far I’ve only returned non-iPhone/iPad products. Maybe I’ll call them and check what’s the actual policy is like.

Yeah Macs and even non-Apple products in their store have their excellent return policy. But I haven’t try for iPhones yet since the website got post the applicable fees charged.

After much consideration whether to get an Android, I think I’m sticking to apple and getting the XR as my work phone.

After reading the reviews, many writer is recommending the XR this year. I am not an expert, but I think apple May have made a mistake by putting so many top specs feature (same camera, chip, better batt) in this phone.

Looking to wait for the response and sales figure... I don’t see many XS or XS Max on the streets now

Why would be a mistake? It only benefits the consumers like you given a Hardware that holds nothing back at a slightly cheaper price with only a few costly but hardware differences like the lack of the expensive OLED screens and the lack of another camera module. Until it is confirmed, they might cut some more cost in using a slightly slower flash storage but that needs to be tested.

Don’t need to worry about Apple. As Long as people buy any of their products they already made profit.

At the price XR is selling, Apple better be putting in the same camera, chip and whatever in this phone.

Mistake? No.

Well if they had taken the strategy similar to 5C, that would have pushed me to the XS. That’s what I meant for the “mistake”. Just a thought don’t need to be so worked up guys. It’s just a phone.

i think it's a bit of a mixed bag.

if they were to go with last year's spec. they can easily price XR at a lower price point.
but how low can they go?

iPhone 8 (A11) = 999 SGD
iPhone 8 Plus (A11) = 1149 SGD

XR (A12) = 1229 SGD
iPhone X (A11) = 1648 SGD

usually the Plus model is the flagship model because of its camera.
but this year, there's no Plus model since both XS and XS Max are the same apart from screen size and battery (hence the Max naming)

so you can think of XR as the non-Plus model this year.

actually 749 USD = 1029 SGD which is real affordable, too bad thats not the case here.

and also:

Kuo: Apple Watch Series 4 Pre-Orders Above Expectations, iPhone XS Seeing Lackluster Demand

In contrast, Kuo says iPhone XS pre-orders are "lower-than-expected," as customers opt for the iPhone XS Max or wait for the iPhone XR. Kuo has lowered his forecast for iPhone XS orders, believing the model will account for only 10 to 15 percent of shipments of the new 2018 iPhones, down from 15 to 20 percent.

The well-known analyst increased his forecast for iPhone XR orders, estimating that the model will account for 55 to 60 percent of shipments of the new 2018 iPhones, up from 50 to 55 percent previously.

only time will tell whether this dude is right again.
