If you want to get EVpad, should get the plus, not pro model.
It run on Android 6.0 iirc which gives u better compatibility with many apps.

Those running on 4.xx are not recommended.

for those considering to buy a media box, you should avoid getting one from China based like ubox

Why?? because most the movies/variety shows are VIP only!!
and you need to pay in order to watch.

its like every selection you want to watch all cannot be watch. and those that can be watched the quality is not good. some are streaming from youku or something.

Most likely you are conned by some unscrupulous sellers.

What you can watch depends on the apps you installed, nothing to do with "china based" or "singapore based" .

ubox has its own apps, and there isn't VIP only shows.

on other cheaper android boxes, if you installed the right apps, you are able to see the most of the shows.

On one hand this is correct but on the other hand this type of apps come and go. So it is probably more for people know how to tinker with the box.

That is probably why people still buying the Unblock Tech boxes or Evpad boxes which are apparently overpriced for their boxes with regard to the HW since they seem to still survive despite the crackdowns. At least they are better than those push cart or Sim Lim boxes where they buy a S$30-S$50 boxes and install some software packages which will not work for long and then charge you for software upgrade or things like that.

BTW, for HW wise, EVpad Plus at least got the necessary 2GB RAM with Amlogic S905X CPU. It runs Android 6.0. The early EVpad seems to have only 1GB RAM and runs on older Android 4.4 and should be avoided.

Ubox Pro (gen 5) and UPro 2 (Gen 6) only have 1GB RAM despite having a powerful Allwinner H6 CPU (H6 spec wise better than S905X but S905X May have better software optimisation). Bumping up the memory to 2GB should have helped on the smooth operation of the box.

Edit: add ubox gen3/gen4 info:
UBox gen3 and gen 4 are using the same CPU — Allwinner H3 Quad-Core A7 CPU which is usually used for older Box. Allwinner H3 Quad Core A7 was quite popular in TV boxes last time (Beelink X2 is one of the popular box using H3) and now is still popular as a maker boards (Orange Pi, NanoPi, etc). Again 1GB RAM is the main limitation. Android version 5.1. 16GB storage for both.

Ubox gen 2: Allwinner H3 32bit quad-A7 CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage

EVpad 2S+: Allwinner H3 CPU 32bit quad-A7 CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB Storage, Android 4.4

EVPad Pro+: Rockchip RK3229 32bit quad-A7 CPU (?), 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, Android 4.4

Older model EVPad Pro is using H3 CPU.

I used to have Jia Le on my old Mio TV package— no more after recontract this year to a lower tier package. They have quite some Hokkien program.

You can always subscribe to SingTel TV packages with Jia Le.

From Google Play Store , you may try adrama or rss player or things like that.

You can also try to side load Dangbei market and try the apps there.

Use Google to search for NewTVBoxSG Facebook group and you may find many good info and good people there. BTW, it is said that some vendors or individuals chose to profit from the volunteer work in the group. That is bad but on the other hand you can see how good the info/work is.

YouTube also has a lot of things but you need to search.

It seems local ISP start to block UBox apps. They are illegal anyway from the beginning. Let’s see how Unblock Teck can deal with the matter this time.
