Meat.... Go for Quan Oc, local style. Low table, low chairs, sit by the roadside.

Cheap food cheap beer.

You can order a whole table of seafood, clam, oyster, crab, prawn and probably use only one big blue note

Mark wiens recommendations are decent affordable local dishes. But most of it look like single person portion

Just to confirm, Quan Oc is a chain seafood restaurant, right? Any recommended branch to head to? I saw there is a Quan Oc Van just beside the Ben Thanh market.

Quan Oc simply means snail food stall
Quan = stalls
Oc = Snail

Quan hai San = seafood stall
Quan Cua = crab seafood stall

Quan Oc Van could just means "Van" Snail food stall
Van is probably the family name of the owner

Usually Quan Oc will be enough to satisfy your craving for seafood

But if you are those who wants big crabs, crayfish, big lobsters, big fish etc, then go for Quan Hai San

And be prepared to pay premium as well.

Hi, anyone has a good 4D3N itinerary to propose for family trip to HCM?

Staying in a villa in District 2..

Cu Chi Tunnels
Mekong Delta One-Day Tour
War Remnants Museum , Ben Thanh Market,
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Central Post Office, Independence Palace

You can also visit their supermarket.
Big C or co-op mart ...

Note their closing hours for the attractions

Adding on... If you wanna pack things you buy fr supermarket and check-in

Lotte Mart would be better choice because they have a dedicated packing stations stocked with loads of boxes.

And Just take note of the travelling time required to cu chi tunnels and mekong delta tour.

It will probably take up one day each cuz travelling speed is nowhere near SG. Cars will move around 40km MAX 50

lotte mart seems further compared to both co op mart and big c ...
usually would go to big c ... is bigger and the things seems cheaper for some... there are 2 co op mart nearer to d1 ...
one is a smaller one (like our usual fairprice), the further one is bigger (like our giant hypermart)

For Hanoi local tour and Halong Bay can book from madam Lin travel? Any from ppl here tried? What is a non-rip off price for Halong bay 2D1N (no need the cheapest)?

some earlier posts mentioned it's not expensive per pax if you are doing in a group with other people. can't recall how much it is as i did private day tour for halong bay (private car transfer and private junk).

anyway, you can get an idea of the prices from classy travel's website, another tour operator if you don't want to go around enquiring first. i used them for halong bay, prices as listed on the website. for overnight tour, different boat, different price.

i used madame linh for day tour to another place.

There are so many boats/cruises to Halong. How did you decide? Price & writeup?
Also recommend a centralise place to stay.

Mine was day trip so don't have choices.

Just shortlist by your comfortable budget, although i know what you mean, between different boats, some almost same price. Maybe choose based on photos of the room.

I stayed in an old quarter boutique hotel called noble swan spa & boutique, under s$75 per night.

Difference wont be big, unless u changing few thousands ...
normally rates at arcade is quite high generally ...
however, if u are not near arcade, can change at your nearby ...
if u wanna change more in vnd, do rmb to change some in Singapore , just in case u need them ...

Just came back from hanoi last Sunday

In fact last weekend the rate was 16900 in most money changers in Hanoi
Some even lower at 16850

2000 sgd is roughly 34million dong.

Can live like Kings and Queens there liao haha

For SIM card... If you want max coverage, it will be Viettel

If you just want data then go fo vinaphone
