was reading espn then chance upon this article about Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.

i took an interest in de jong since he plays a defensive type of midfield.

some of his passes look abit like our scholes'. thing is, city seems to have a hand on him already. if he comes epl it'll be a good test of his abilities but i think he still can beef up a bit more if he comes into epl.

Only watched second half, he was tearing down the left side at will... then he was subbed out. :s11:

I managed to watch about 60% of the game..
rashford created chances but that split seconds decision making still need improvement... while on the run, he was exciting to watch...but the finishing was pretty bad

I believed he had an injury.. cos he went straight to the dressing room upon leaving the field.

Seems like many big clubs all want them

we should buy de ligt before he goes to barca, city or liverpool. he kept france quiet and managed to match the speed of mbappe. fast centreback, good in air and can use both feet.

We can buy, but will JM use? Later end up first season use sparingly cos still young and haven't adapt..then 2nd season he still haven't adapt/perform decide to sell away or ask for another one.

And fans will still back him by saying oh, he still too young..give time to adjust etc etc..until the poor player loses his form and can't perform anymore when called upon to play.

Whichever players we buy who are 25 years and below, will all take more than a season before JM decides they are good enough to play regularly. While those above that (best if they are 29 year olds) are immediately thrust back into the 1st team after they recover from injury or suspension whether they are playing well or not.

Just to compare, RoyK joined and took like 2 seasons before he got slotted into the first team. And that was after PaulInce somewhat messed things up when he stepped on the toes of SAF, otherwise he may have taken even longer.
And many of us wondered why OGS never started many games. It was only later on that it was revealed that he had a stamina problem. Sometimes, really, the manager and coaches know better.
Not every new recruit can and should command a starting slot or even a slot on the bench. I think if NemanjaV joined now, and put in a shift like his first performance, he would be released on the free by the fans the next day.

fans played enough FIFA and FM to know that young players can immediately slot in and command a starting 11 spot, average team age can be 20 and still win all the competitions. :s8:

True that. Forget is was SAF or MP or RM that mention OGS was a very "clever" player, when on the bench, he will watch how the defenders defend, where they are pressure and make mistakes, he will then exploit them when he came on.

Assasin at it's best. Super-sub.
Same reason why I was saddened when Chicharito left.

Must play them or they will never improve... You are murdering their talent.

In reality, is all down to individual, train hard keep your focus, do what your role need you to do and then give your best when called upon.

Sadly, players of such mould lesser and lesser... All playing for personal glory, when got chance to put in a good cross for teammate to score, attempt to drive in and take on the defender...

Rather shoot as inverted winger than cross on actual flank... All the media hype n glory going too fast into their head... So when not playing, not noticed, most choose to sulk.

Blind didn't, Scheneiderlin didn't, Bastian didn't, Herrera and Mata didn't.

they rather sulk.

so our average age is getting higher is a good thing? playing players in their twilight in their non natural positions is preparing for the future? its no wonder our team is in decline...its not going to get better as those players are not going to improve.

At the very least we should be playing the 25 year olds like Fred instead of letting him waste his years. How is he going to reach his peak at 29 when he's not getting any games?

If Jardim has the same mentality as JM at Monaco years ago, we wouldn't see a wealth of talents emerging from Monaco in the past 2 seasons. Its just too bad they sold all their good players away.

Bro, whom shall Fred replace from the last trio that started recently? Matic? Fred is no Kante, not stable leh. At best he replace Herrera.

He could replace Fellaini if the other's are injured. But he's not JM's favourite yet. So it makes you wonder why JM buys him or have him in the list of players to get in summer.

We'll just have to see if he's still around and favored to play more in season 2. Or he could end up being another Miki while Matic and Fellaini are given further contract extensions well into their 30s.
