i gave up on airbnb, but that wasnt in taipei.

Airbnb in taiwan isnt as laid back as compare to australia.
something we take for granted in most western country airbnb may not be available in taiwan airbnb.

All of them are about the same if u compare taipei region. but not outside taipei region

agoda may give better price than minsu.

Airbnb may be more suited for either lone traveller or large family, looking at how taiwan is set up for airbnb in general.

I had source for it in taichung, taipei and keelung, and i concluded not worth the money and effort as they are usually no where near amenities or train station. If u hire driver, it makes sense to airbnb
and the space wise, hotel can be cheaper and better.

yangmingshan, on the other hand is different story. worth looking at airbnb on that region

ps- i am a host and i also stay in airbnb

Hotels in Taiwan are generally affordable with good standard so i would say dont need to stay airbnb/minsu unless you are going to mountainous regions like cingjing farm. their minsu are usually more old school design and breakfast spread very very simple. Hotel will be better with room services and 24hr helpdesk. their airbnb/minsu are also located at weird areas so if you are taking the train and bus then it may not be convenient.

usually only use airbnb in europe/aussie cause of the expesnvie hotel prices there:s13:

IMO Taipei's biz hotels are quite affordable. Unless you are going in a bigger group or family where you need more rooms, else i think hotels are more worth for location and service. I tried one airbnb this year June, it was located not far from TMS. It was not alot more savings from staying at a hotel, which is why I wont say I had a satisfied stay... :p
