The extra $$ is only about $10 - $20 more, for me it's worth it.

saw an old model nintendo switch w/o dock, accessories and box selling for $350 worth buying?

Not worth, you need the dock & charger and they cost a bomb ($100+) if purchased separately.

curious, do you guys prefer eshop or physical copies? if eshop, which region do you use?

Prefer physical but some games dont have physical (like hollow knight).

Eshop sometimes have sales and price much cheaper than physical copy.

DLCs only available in eshop.

Mario Kart is only SGD$47.12 from the South Africa eShop. Pretty good deal.

You can buy from South Africa eshop or not in the first place...If all local credit card got rejected, even if they sell the game for $1, how are you going to buy it?

from what i know is that you got to call your bank to have it activated to enable purchase from SA eshop

Have you tried calling your bank to enable purchase from SA eshop? Nintendo South Africa block credit card not from South Africa and you can call your bank to activate it...Hmmmm...

How sure are you that the Switch would be refresh within this year? You wait one year and no refresh, how?

If a refresh Switch cost double that of the Switch but there is no exclusive games that can only run on the New Switch, you ok? Like PS4 and PS4 Pro...

For me is simple, if the price of the switch is something you can afford and there are games that you want to play, why even wait for a rumour which may or may not be true...

i never tried yet cause i hardly purchase digital, but in the facebook grp for switch, there are ppl who stated they are able to purchase from SA eshop, they called to enable it.
