Cos cases not like now, at the time only got two or three fans and very few vents, like the legendary Centurion 5. Rather have blower style to exhaust the heat, and cards like the notorious HD4850 ran very hot so there was a lot of heat.

There was a time when nVidia tnt n 3dfx voodoo gfx was the only ones to go for(maybe Matrox too) and there was Chaintech, shuttle n Epox motherboards.

AMD, INTEL & CYRIX cpus were sold from trays like eggs
