Wow looks like you are going to the less tourist places

Is this ur first time going japan? The dates you going koyo not peak yet?

I wanted to go japan for a long time liao and always no time, opportunity. Finally i am going in late nov. I choose kansai because i like kyoto. I know many people go tokyo but i dont like tokyo because its too commercialised like shanghai vs beijing.

Yamanashi prefecture is where Mt Fuji locates.
Gunman prefecture is less popular to foreigners though, but I like the woods.
Tochigi prefecture is where Nikko and Karuizawa locates, they are famous of koyo.
Me too feel that the schedule is a too early, my niece booked the ticket without my knowledge....likely go there to see yellow yoko instead of red koyo, sigh~~~:s13:
I lived in Japan during the 80's and only revisit twice in the 90's, 2017 Antrum and planning to visit my old school mates in Tokyo this year. :s13:
I have visited 46 out of 47 prefectures during the old days, the only place I never visit is Okinawa prefecture. Probably visiting soon by taking a cruise there.

Wow 80s was like the booming period there. What was it like? Which area has completely changed and which one is not?

Wah your timing almost exactly like mine, except we doing different places.

15th - 25th Oct via ANA for 3A.
Landing in Tokyo first, stay for 2 nights, then move northwards to Hokkaido and return to SG from Sapporo.

Renting a car? Karuizawa looks good for summer season also.

Done that last few years. apparently a few tens thousands tourists also think the same way :s13:

well its my first time going japan and i specifically choose kansai over tokyo.

i know many singaporeans on their first time to japan, they will go tokyo but i just dont like it. why? because i feel that comparing tokyo to kyoto is like comparing shanghai to beijing. one is commercialised while the other is nice place for tourist. 2nd will be the autumn colours.

i mean if all my life, i only get to japan once, i will still choose kyoto over others.

Kanto is not just Tokyo. Why are you comparing a whole region (Kansai) with just a city (Tokyo)? Kanto has so much to offer besides just Tokyo.

Likewise, Kansai is not just Kyoto, Osaka and Nara.

Everyone has their own preference.

My first trip to Japan I did Tokyo -> Kanazawa -> Kyoto. I like enjoy all these places- they are not comparable and shouldn't be compared. Kyoto is lovely on its own, and I would love to revisit the place, but right now I'm gonna explore more of Japan's other regions/prefectures first.
