I am currently using 1070 zotac graphic card since 2 years ago. Looking to upgrade my graphic cards now but saw have those 1660 and 2060.

So what are the differences between 1660 series of gpu and 2060 series of cpu?

Can recommend on par or upgrade to replace my 1070?

the RTX line has hardware RT and DLSS support i believe
GTX line has software RT support only

as for upgrading from 1070, imho 2080 at least bah. anything lower is either not worth the upgrade (2070/2060) or just a sidegrade (1660ti)

Thanks for the fast reply. Which would be the better graphic card if you compare 1660ti vs 2060?

Also I saw most shop in sls no longer sell 1080 cards? That time 1080ti is very popular and good but now is outdated?

2060 is faster at a higher price, if u dont need ray tracing then 1660ti

but 1070 is very close to 1660ti, theres no need to change(notice i dint use the word upgrade)

unless u REALLY want ray tracing on ur games AND you have tons of cash lying around with no much use of? then i suggest change to RTX 2080ti.

If not theres really no need to change even for 1080p-144hz or 1440p-100hz.

Thanks for your reply. No need ray trace. 2060 I know is more expensive than 1660ti but the performance difference is it worth the difference of the pricing?

2080ti is best but too expensive at the moment

Why no 1080ti cards selling at shops? Might as well buy that..

old model=not available already.

not worth the price difference unless u can get a 2060 at $470, which is only possible during super sales period

1080Ti is EOL.

I was also looking for one recently and came across 1 and only Asus 1080Ti (cant remember the model) at >$1500 at SLS.

In the end, I bought a reasonable 2nd hand piece with another 1.5 years of warranty remaining.

In terms of price:performance the RTX 2060 is more valued vs GTX1660ti even after u discount the RTX cores(basically, like getting rtx tech for free)
Basically, it is not worth to get 1660ti as its performance is pretty weak vs your current card.
But if given a choice i would rather not upgrade to rtx series, as the performance gains is really meh for the amount that u are paying for.
you can try to OC ur card to the limit instead.

But if $ not a concern, better to go for RTX 2070 and better and u will see tangible performance improvement. Upgrading to RTX 2060, u will just see about an improvement of 10-20%. Depends on how much u OC ur current card.

Oh I see, no wonder. Such a shame that it is eol. I thought it offers a reasonable price for its performance

Ok noted. Guess the significant increase in performance will either be 2070,2080 or 2080ti...

The 1080ti is replaced by the rtx 2080. Very similar performance.
When you wanna upgrade your card, how much performance jump are u expecting to see to know it’s an notable upgrade?
From your current card to 2080. You’re expected to see a 30% give or take boost in performance.

Forget the 1660ti or the 2060. From your current situation, both are not an “upgrade” for u

Those cmi models. Better to invest in better heatsink and long lasting fans.

Example of low end fans and low quality models.
Zotac 2060 mini, Zotac 2060 (amp, same as mini just OC)
All Galax models.
Palit storm, dual.
Gets better here but still sub par cooling solution
MSI venus
asus cerberus
gigabyte windforce

Basically almost all RTX models below $600 are using sub par coolers.

This will affect longevity, room for OC potential, fan durability and even aesthetics.
The low end models' cooling efficiency are also much worse than last gen: Palit jetstream, Zotac amp! and Msi gaming.

This is a very sweeping statement. A RTX 2060 at 600 bucks is a lot of money and will get a solid build. The heatsink fan unit is also relative to the power requirement, i.e. I see no point to fit a cooler fit for a RTX 2080 on a RTX 2060. And to be honest, I am less picky on the cooler when it's a mid end card since its not going to heat up that much, assuming it can handle the heat output.

That is just a rough gauge for cards below $600. u can get some decent cards at $580.

My point is the cheapest model may not be as good as what I had quoted in the conversation, put it in that context, don't take it out.

It's not just the heatsink, the fan used is of a huge concern too. For example, zotac mini series gtx 10 series is known to have fans grinding noise issues when seated at certain orientation. Certain models will also have higher fan failure rates, short life span. All these are cause for concerns. You certainly don't want the hassle of RMA-ing because the compounds used are not as good.

Not telling ppl to get the highest end model. I'm just saying lowest end models has it drawbacks(not talking about aesthetics)

There a reason why low end rtx 2060 model from xx costs $430 and the high end 1 model from asus cost $730 and it is certainly not just the aesthetics bumping the cost.

Don’t think it’s cmi models. They are sufficient for ppl who don’t overclock, why spend so much on a Super high end cooler when some ppl just wanna plug and play. How much u can overclock also largely depends on the silicon lottery
