China rom can work with Google apps. No problem.

I am not sure about inability to lock bootloader after flashing global rom. Previous xiaomi phones never have this issue. I have locked and unlocked bootloader many times on my old mi5s, running global roms.

Just google and find out that Xiaomi has put in restrictions on China mkt phones flashing global rom. Hence, will stick to China rom atm.

Hopefully, someone will find a workaround to this restriction in the future.

Global rom any widevine lv1 support?

Sent from Xiaomi MI MAX 3 using GAGT

As pocophone F1 users have found out the hard way, Netflix refuses to retroactively white list the phone for HD even thought it's now certified widevine L1, so the chance of K20 Pro or Mi9T Pro getting Netflix HD is slim to zero so the point is it does not matter.

workaround is to unlock bootloader and flash global or other custom rom and magisk (to make gpay work if u need it). this restriction is on newer devices, phones made by xiaomi since may of last year. so if u lock ur bl on a china set with global rom, it will hard brick.

According to youtube tutorial (Thai), must click the "Save user data" when flashing Global to China. I don't know how it handles gpay.
