Need Advice on Gaming Rig

Decided to set up a new thread. My old thread as below:

In summary, been a laptop user for 10 years. Thinking of changing to a desktop with a wide screen.
Using mainly for gaming, Netflix and torrents. Was waiting for Ryzen 3000 series to be out. Budget about 3K.

The current recommended build is:

Graphics Card - GALAX RTX 2080 8GB BLACK O.C or GALAX RTX 2070 8GB EX WHITE
Memory RAM - CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 3200MHZ CL16 ( 8GBx2pcs )
Display - Prism X340
Storage - SAMSUNG EVO 860 250GB M.2 SSD + TOSHIBA 2TB 7200RPM 2YRS P300 RED
Casing - NXZT H500 chassis or C.M MASTER CASE MB520 RGB T-GLASS with 3 RGB fan
PSU - 550w - 650w EVGA G+ 650W 80+ GOLD 10YRS
Audio - Onboard Realtek ALC audio
Cooler – Heard Ryzen 3000 series will be very hot and will need a cooler Any recommendations?

Planning to go to PC themes at Sim Lim Square to build the rig. Any advice will be much appreciated!

I recommend Ballistix over Vengeance for the RAM.

For main boot storage, go NVME M.2 instead of SATA

Cooler: Ryzen is colder than Intel. The stock one is fine but can get loud. Can consider a 212x

Otherwise, SLS shops tend to push other 'more costly' alternatives to you.

Haha Not really in urgent need to build the rig immediately. Waited since May 2019 for the Ryen 3000 series
Guess the Ryzen 3600 and Tomahawk Max hard to have alternatives?

Hi, You can use the stock Cooler just fine. If you wish to change to a better cooler, go with Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi or just H7.

Change GPU to the new Nvidia GTX 2070 Super. It performs very close to 2080 while much cheaper than 2080.

Since you still have some budget to spare.. do consider looking at other options for your display. There are lots of better options out there if you increase to around $1k. I’ve seen X34Ps going for <$1000 at times even.

Can't comment on monitor, a lot of monitors on market and sg isn't exactly a place where you can get latest monitor easily either. It is better to source oversea if you looking at high end monitor unless there is a awesome local deals which hopefully someone do keep track and can advise on that.

Anyway, if you are using it for gaming, I would suggest to up your ssd to 1tb.
Games are becoming more space hungry.

If you not oc-ing, no reason to spend much on cooler. I would recommend diverting much of those money on other parts.
