So I installed a pair of Actiontec ecb6200 today. Plug and play basically. 5 to 10% drop in bandwidth speed. Acceptable in opinion.

I wanted to order another 2 pairs, may I know if it is possible to mix motorola bonded 2.0 with Actiontec ecb6200? Anyone tried?

As price for Actiontec remains highest... I did try to contact gocoax 2.5 about stock but seems like ran out and will not be coming in soon so wondering if Motorola might be a alternative.

I have both and they work well together.

So I purchased an additional pair of Moca. Tried with 2 Actiontec and it works. However I need help!!!! When I used the 3rd Moca Motorola - I just couldn't seem to join the domain. I normally get local IP 192.168.0.xxx but for the Motorola it gets local IP 102.282.172.xxx hence I am just trying to figure out what went wrong. I even changed the location to another room and still got a weird local IP.

Anyone know what I could do???

I also checked and there is 5 coax connected in the main. 3 coax to 1 main output and 2 coax to another main. Not sure if that is the reason why.

Hi, I need to install a MoCA. I wrote to StarHub to explain that I was installing the MoCA infrastructure and required them to fit a POE filter but they obviously didn’t understand the first part of the question and sent me this:

“We wish to share that we do not have a service that allows the usage of the cable network or provide the MOCA POE filter.”

I’m not sure they can say that they do not “...allow(s) the usage of the cable network” . The cable network in the apartment is owned by my landlord so the internal cabling is nothing to do with them.

How did any of you get Starhub to fit a POE filter?

Thanks

I installed my POE filter myself. Find the box where the first cable comes into your house and then gets distributed into all your rooms. Install the POE between the first cable and all the extensions from that. It's messy, but it worked for me.

Can't we just disconnect that input coaxial cable?

i am surprised that this thread is still alive. i have been using this cheap setup for years a miserly us$20 that is still going strong :D

User 'terry1' is hijacking threads here in order to push his business. It's literally the only type of content he has to contribute. As mentioned in my first post, I didn't even get 70mbit/s out of my 1Gbit/s connection with the DirectTV setup. Save yourself the headache.

Just converted my PowerLine setup to MoCA network. Was getting 150 Mbps max on PowerLine and now reaching 800/900 Mbps.

Main reason was to switch to FibreTV and PowerLine was too narrow.

Bought two TP Link SG108E and configured the switch port to MoCA Convertor to Trunk Port for Data and FibreTV VLAN (1091).

ONT Fibre TV and first set top box is plug in to first switch and both ports are configured for FibreTV VLAN while the rest of the ports are configured as Data VLAN and the router is plugged into one of them.

2nd set top box is directly connected to MoCA converter without a switch in a separate room.

3rd MoCA converter is connected to another room and the 2nd switch is connected for Data VLAN only.

The only thing to note is that the set top boxes cannot boot up correctly if IGMP Snooping is enabled (by default) so it needs to be disabled on the switch with FibreTV VLAN.

This cause additional multicast traffic on the MoCA trunk since the IPTV traffic is multicast. My Speedtest deteriorate by 50Mbps because of this but is a small price to pay.

Hi,

Just to check what is your switch configuration? Why is it possible to connect directly from your moca to your 2nd set top box without going through a switch?

Thanks a lot.

Anyone interested in the goCoax please PM me, I bought a pair but no time to setup. In the end got a simpler solution. So this is left "un-opened"(open the box see 1 time).

Do the Hitron and Gocoax have the same output? The Gocoax specsheet doesn't say much.

This is from the Hitron specsheet:

• PHY Rate: 700 Mbps (Baseline Mode)
• Throughput: 400+Mbps (Baseline Mode) / 500+Mbps
(Turbo Mode, Point to Point Configuration) Per channel

So this means max 500+ Mbps per pair of adapters? How do you read the 700 Mbps cap?

Yes the product from China but I need to check with the manufcurer on the country sales restriction.

The one I are looking at is single channel. Hitron Moca 2.5 can go up to 2.5 Gbps with channel bonding. I have this confirmed with the manufacturer
