thanks for the reply.. i ended up going for micro p 3.. liking so far :s12:

iirc it was ap avatar 1.6. like diff shop recommend diff brand i guess which is has the highest profit margin haha.

thinking of adding an active sub next :D

dont waste your time/money on the active sub, you will end up ditching it for a proper sub later on also.

Pls correct me if I'm wrong.. I thought active sub is the proper sub?

Active sub requires an amp to power it right?

What do you mean by proper sub. Thanks! :)

Nope. Active = self-powered. Passive = need amp.

I am using mp 7-5-7 .

Can let you sit in my car if you are keen. Stay at Sengkang area

Finally changed my set up to 3 way active. Unfortunately, after addind the mid bass, the overall sound is too bright to my liking.

Was advise by the audio shop boss to consider micro P 5 or 7 series and also focal kx3.

Any comment on the above 2 speakers? Is there any place i can listen to these speakers before buying?

Is there any whatsapp group/telegram out there to join :lick:

Thanks for all the reply.. I figured out is not the speaker issue, but more on tuning issue. Am resolving the issue at the moment.

I did an audition on helix speaker before committing on this set of speakers. So i quite unlikely is the speaker issue. Haiz

Do you know the brand and model of your RCAs and speaker cables? Any of them happen to be silver / silver-coated?

What r atas brand for in car audio that consumer can buy to install ?

Head unit - mckintosh, nakamichi?
Amp -??
Speakers - focal?

I heard brands like Naim audio, mark Levinson installed to luxury cars factory fitted, but do retailers sell n install?

For those exploring the idea of getting your ICE job done in JB, you can use mine as a guide to compare with the shops in SG. Mine was done by Ricky from Famous Audio two weeks ago.

My Ride: Perodua Aruz AV
Head Unit: Retain Stock Unit
DSP & AMP: Helix P Six DSP
Front: Ground Zero GZRC 165.3SQ (3-way active)
Sub: Nakamichi NBF618A Under-seat Active Sub
Sound Proofing: 4 Doors (Front 2 layers, Back 1 layer)
Damage: RM13K+

It's the right decision to go with Ricky as he is very experienced and professional in his work. But, I made a mistake of being impatient, rushing into it without spending time and effort to audition more speakers before committing. My original intention was the Morel Virtus 603 as I heard many good reviews and it is warm sounding. Ricky advises not to go for the Morel as it does not match my preference for vocal music. I am not sure whether true or not as I did not have the chance to audition it. But I believed all shops do favour and promote certain brands due to business relationships.

For my future upgrades, I will still stick to Ricky for the job but will audition more speakers like Morel, Micro Precision etc before committing. But it's not easy to find a shop to audition the speakers you wanted unlike home audio where you can find many at Adelphi. I found my matching Epos ES14 home speaker at Adelphi after auditioning many.

since u are using p6, can consider getting the helix usb card. can play from dap/fone directly to the dsp bypassing headunit.. will sound better.

13k+ rm price seems quite reasonable for your setup with pillars inclusive.

Thanks, Bro. Will surely look into it if it helps improving the sound further.

Hi guys

Ready to get a 10inch sub for passive sub. Any brand to recommend or sub no diff as see size of it one. Better to get brand new or second hand and bring shop to customize box? So it doesn't take too much boot space lol

Thanks!

What speakers are you running 1st, running with amps, active or passive? No point tell you choose high-end sub if your speakers are entry-level or the other way round.

Hi

I'm currently running micro precision 3 w venom dsp and venom active sub. I believe its 2 way active.

Shop told me I will need to get separate amp to power the passive sub

Just read the thread from page 1.. Should've seen it earlier as you mentioned 'do it once do it right'
:s8:

Reason for wanting to add a sub behind coz I feel the underseat sub no kick lol. But also afraid if put a sub in the boot will it be too powerful? Or with tuning it'll be just nice?

its not the active sub no kick, just that its properly tuned, if u try adjust the sub power it can be quite powerful, i tried adjusting the pioneer active sub before.

get a passive sub powered by amp, really no regrets. i was on active sub for a while and when i switched over to passive sub then i realized that i have been wasting time with the active sub.

A Rockford P1 would do just fine for your setup.
