I had applied for GIRO to pay my One CC and Singtel-UOB CC bills mid last month. I got a letter saying they're processing the application, but no word on whether the application is completed and successful.

I just got the CC statement, and in the Payment Advice, under Payment Amount, it says "GIRO PAYMENT". Does this mean that the GIRO arrangement is already in effect? To be safe, if I were to pay manually now (2 weeks before due date), would the amount get deducted again if/when the GIRO is successful?

This is GrabPay thread?

This is not Grabpay thread. But Grab topup has been a hot topic here. I see many people topping up Grab to the max. So alerting here in case their intention is to use Grabpay on AXS and they might want to consider if they should continue to topup so much.

Also they can explore alternatives rather than get shocked on the due date of their bills.

u know there are ways to work around it even if grabpay is nerfed on axs right. just need to find an intermediary master card. e.g. youtrip. though i know YT dont allow payment.

I got 0 UNI$ for topup up Grabpay using UOB PRVI card, even not 1× which means it is excluded. UOB one still gives extra 5% rebate? weird.

Not weird at all. UOB X Grab is their partnership and advertising campaign. So
either UOB or Grab (or both) spent a lot of money to advertise
See: https://www.uob.com.sg/grab/

It only covers UOB One (and used to include YOLO). They probably did the math and were happy to cover only the One card.

That's new. I was getting .7 uni$ per dollar on UOB PRVI for Grab topups last week. Time to try all my other cards with $10 topups to confirm it hasn't been nerfed by all the other banks and their cards. Shame if only UOB One and Amex are left.

Bro, it's not so straight forward. You need to get a Singapore issued mastercard (debit or credit) that allows for topup from grab or other credit cards.

I think there's 1 or 2 in the current market but fees are not cheap. That makes it not worth the trouble.

I topup $200 using PRVI Amex on last Friday and got nothing.

there is one in mkt that charges 1%, if you can use uob one with 10% rebate, netting 9% on income tax is still worth the trouble, esp if tax is in 5 digits.

Submitted a request for annual card fee wavier.
A CSO called and said not successful, saying there is a min 12k spending/year to get it waive.
Now, it is weird. If i spendt $500/month, get back $50 per quarter.
My cashback is $200 for the year and i cannot get annual fee waive($192.60).
Which means my $6000 spending get back $7.40 cash back?, effective 0.123%?

But I actually charge ~$600 to this card regularly and some months much more. Which means maybe 0.08%?
Who will still want to get this card?
Get miles or other bank cash back is even better.

All cards have $Xxk annual min spend (after first 1-2 waiver) to get auto waiver of annual fee. It is industry standard practice.
If you don’t spend that much , better u get one of those cards from smaller banks like CIMB, they have cards that forever don’t have annual fees .

Can request waiver again and say you will cancel the card if they not giving the fee waiver. If really cannot waive, just move on to other card.

Do you have other UOB CCs?
And also UOB One account?

This is quite strange. I'm sure most of us here have the same practices as you, yet most of us are able to waive successfully.

Anyone knows of possible reasons why this scenario can happen?

If can't I usually say in their face I'm going to cancel and close my account move all my funds to other bank. Nowadays there are plenty of bank services. Digital banking licenses awarded to new players some more.

I remember OCBC also practice the same for min spent $12k / year

Yeah, weird. Been with them many years and this is my typical spending.
Only have this UOB one card with UOB.
Thought it was new UOB policy.
I have other cards, even AMEX Krisflyer who waive off annual fee and gave me the hotel and lounges vouchers. All other cards waiver approved at first request.

Thinking, if they really don't want to waive, i just transfer my regular spending to DBS livefresh and OCBC 365(which I was thinking of canceling since min is $800 now).
I just told CSO who called me I will cancel this card as it is not worthwhile. She said she will submit the waiver request again.
