Basically, Here's my understanding :

1&2) Mavic Mini CE version would maintain same power regardless of CE or FCC regions.

3&4) Mavic Mini FCC version would operate a max power at FCC region and reduced power at CE region. But CE region still hackable via Fake GPS apps according to your posted video :D

aiya,

it is important to first find out what power DJI Fly app configures a Mini FCC version's 5.8GHz Wifi at CE regions, before getting a FCC set. That power has to be 19dBm/75mW and not 14dBm/25mW.

DJI Fly configures Mini CE version's 5.8GHz wifi at 14dBm/25mW in CE regions, what if DJI Fly also configures Mini FCC version's 5.8GHz wifi at 14dBm/25mW in CE regions? that's would be like RTH triggered at 50m (under lots of interference). Mini FCC version does not have 2.4GHz wifi.

I hope DJI Fly configures Mini FCC version's 5.8GHz wifi at 19dBm/75mW in CE regions. That's the same power as the CE verions at 2.4GHz wifi. This should have good range of about 100m (under lots of interference). Mini FCC version does not have 2.4GHz wifi.

I do not want to buy a Mini FCC version and ended flying <50m here, if FCC hacks not working. Mini FCC Version could only have 30dBm/1000mW 300-400m range (under lots of interference) when FCC hacks available.

Dunno ler, this is according to this DJI reply which complied in transmission ranges : :

I talked to the DJI customer service and asked them If i can travel with my mini I bought in china, which is the FCC Version. Since the mini adjusts the range in the regions.

如果您购买的是FCC的飞机,您可以在FCC国家和地区、SRRC国家和地区,以及支持5.8G的CE国家和地区正常飞行
FCC飞机在FCC国家为4km;
在SRRC国家和地区为2.5km;
在支持5.8G的CE国家和地区为500m;

如果您购买的是CE的飞机,您可以在CE国家和地区、SRRC国家和地区,以及FCC国家和地区正常飞行
CE飞机在CE国家为2.4G频段下2km、5.8G(如地区法规支持)频段下500m;
在SRRC国家和地区为2.4G频段下2km、5.8G频段下500m;
在FCC国家和地区为2.4G频段下2km、5.8G频段下500m;

translated:
If you are purchasing an FCC aircraft, you can fly normally in FCC countries and regions, SRRC countries and regions, and CE countries and regions that support 5.8G.
The FCC aircraft is 4km in the FCC countries;
2.5km in SRRC countries and regions;
500m in CE countries and regions supporting 5.8G;

If you are purchasing a CE aircraft, you can fly normally in CE countries and regions, SRRC countries and regions, and FCC countries and regions.
CE aircraft in the CE country for the 2.4G band 2km, 5.8G (as supported by regional regulations) 500m;
In the SRRC countries and regions, it is 2km under the 2.4G frequency band and 500m under the 5.8G frequency band;
In the FCC countries and regions, it is 2km under the 2.4G band and 500m under the 5.8G band;

So 5.8GHz at 14dBm should give ~500m range. :s22:

This mavic Mini very complicated, like need to CSI like that.

from that DJI's reply info, my guess :eek:
1) Their max 4km is equivalent to our 400m reliable range at parks. their max 500m is our 50m reliable range at parks. Our parks having 20-30 hotspots anytime.

2) Mavic Mini CE version 5.8GHz wifi max power is 14dBm/25mW, limited by wifi hardware.

3) For those who purchased a Mavic Mini FCC version from Taobao/China, you can fly only about 50m distance in parks here, unless you have some FCC hacks which then will give you 300-400m range. Because DJI Fly lowers 5.8G wifi power to 14dBm/25mW in S'pore

4) For those having the Mini CE model sold here, the reliable range is about 100m (19dBm/75mW) with 2.4GHz Wifi. If you are flying CE model with 5.8GHz wifi in parks here, you only get about 50m distance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
can those having Mavic Mini please help telling us your range here? and your mini type. ;)
That's so true. My JJRC x9 -DJI Spark copy- can go 800m distance out-of-box paying 1/3 price of Mini!!
wow! 800m so shiok!... :s12:
but JJRC X9 got no digital video stabilizing, only 2-axis gimbal. The video is shaky and needs video stabilizing post-processing on desktop PC...
it also got no optical positioning right?
I think may be i should go back to spark liow,.. sell away my mini when i receive it, and get a used spark... :(
anyone wanna fly drones together tomorrow 11am at marina south? please pm me ;)
marina south is not under no-fly-zone
no national park board restriction there
did not find any CAAS events on their website for x'mas and year end
is solar eclipse time but does not cause any interference to your drone
:D
need to calibrate your front/back obstacle sensors and downward position sensors. All can be done with DJI Assistant software on desktop computer at indoor (No need to be outdoor). After that try hover at 0.5m altitude indoor (no GPS) to make sure your vision positioning is working.
Compass needs to be calibrated at outdoor.
Likely your Mavic Air is OK. Crashed but no broken electronics :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tried vision sensor calibration but the screen hangs. Bottom right show left and right sensor with green dot then nothing happened. Changed cable, set lower resolution, brightness etc no effect.

Any good local repair to recommend?

Anyone tried flying near gardens by the bay? It's not a no fly zone but will the security guard stop drone flyers?

I feel like going Gardens by the bay to take some aerial videos, then head over the marina barrage and continue flying after that.

Strictly speaking you not allowed to fly there unless you have permission to do so.
But some ppl don't care much..eg Woodlands Creasent Park is with 5km from Sembawang Airport. But still ppl fly and even posted in YT.

there are few dji drones repair services on carousell. may be you can try calling them for the charges?

after i replaced my spark's gimbal, the gimbal movement was not 100% smooth. It could be due to bought the recycled gimbal from taobao, or i did not run the camera cables properly. It could not pass the gimbal calibration process. I had to physically using my finger to help pushing the gimbal a bit during the calibration process. After that calibration was successful and I got the gimbal working (might have something imperfect but i do not notice)

you might need to try few times on your mavic air calibration process, search the internet if anyone having same problem as you, and etc.

Marina Bay is not under no-fly-zone. But I never fly there as that place is always so crowded and cannot find a good spot to launch. I think hwzlite flew there before and may be can check with him. let me know if you find a good location to launch your drone there.

East Coast Park Zone E somewhere near the big pond(cable-ski park) and Hawker Center (East Coast Lagoon food village) is not under no-fly-zone.

Both places not very good locations for first time flying of Mavic Mini. Marina Bay too much interference. East Coast Park too strong wind during end of year. Getting familiar first with the Mavic Mini at any smaller neighborhood parks might be better.

will pm you when next drone flying planned. we are short of drone-kaki... :D

Good New Year news, DJI going to warranty my drone for the crash due to compass error in flight.
No wonder the drone kept drifting when I took off, so is not my skill error =:p

Anyone here registering with caas for MM?
I'm flying it stock currently so there isn't a need to but I'm thinking if I were to fly with a filter installed it may cross 250g, or any accessories such as led or decal skin, might as well register it to be on the safe side.
