Really ha?
Don't count the church 'involuntary donations'.
That's for your good.

No not church nor parental allowance if u r going to insinuate that next.

Purely charitable donation to a person unrelated to me who is in need.

Corporations are by definition, legal persons. Yes it does work for layman US persons unless you are misunderstanding what I'm saying. No one have to advertise it, when you invest in a corporation like Apple, the corporation has to exercise it's fiduciary duty to avoid as much tax as legally possible.

If you are the country benefiting from legal tax avoidance, yes, you shouldn't be trying to kill the golden goose.

But I am talking more about wealth tax for individuals not corporations.

For wealth tax, start with reinstating estate duties and introducing capital gain tax above a certain amount on real estate, including commercial properties.

Governments define corporations, the same governments that levy taxes.

OK, so a U.S. person invests in Apple stock, directly or through a fund. Apple is a U.S. corporation that legally (hopefully) avoids some corporate tax via its notional presence in Singapore. Apple benefits from the Singapore government's (and thus Singapore public's) generosity, whereupon the U.S. Treasury collects tax revenue on the dividends and capital gains that U.S. person enjoys from her shareholdings, income partly attributable to the Singapore public's generosity. The U.S. Treasury even collects at least 15% dividend tax from Singaporean shareholders, while IRAS gets nothing from the same individuals.

....And that's an argument against a modest wealth tax levied on the ~75,000 wealthiest U.S. households (Senator Warren's proposal)? Yes, I'm missing the connection, probably because you're not making a clear and logical argument yet.

Not wise. The cost of lifting poverty line needs to be shoulder by entire population in future generations.

Sg government using Workfare to sub minimum wages to low income salary Singaporean.

Good for business company as they no need to increase prices to meet minimum wages for their employees.

The logic is if the company can't survived to operate. There will be no jobs available.

Should there be a minimum wage in Singapore?

Australia has a minimum wage of S$17.88, and their cost of living in lower than Singapore. Big ticket items such as car and housing are cheaper. Most of their construction workers, are white, btw, so the argument that locals don’t want such jobs is absolute baloney.

People say Australia high tax, pls la, cpf is unofficially a tax also. 37% even though you earn below 18k a year. In Australia is 0% haha.

It’s also funny that our ministers maintain the importance of paying themselves highly, but dismiss totally the need to pay people living wages. Even former Gic chief economist Lam Keong Yeoh thinks it’s ridiculous not to pay people minimum wage in the most expensive city.

If sinkies are willing to pay $10 for ckt and chicken rice at hawker centre then why not:s22:

10 dollar chicken rice doesn’t matter so long as people cook at home (as in the case of australia). Even if one eats outside all the time, the proportion of salary that it takes up is low. The problem is financing expensive housing with 6 to 10 dollar per hour salaries, is there an alternative to this? No, for if you sleep at East Coast park the police will arrest you.

0% tax in Australia?

U know how much it costs to have a simple meal outside?

Lmfao

Their groceries cheaper than here, can cook which is what most poor families do here anyway.

Pls you also, one big filling quality meal in Melbourne whith beef and chicken and fruit 10 aud nia. Singapore 5 bucks the portion give so little. I rather pay 10 dollars for nutritious meal.

Are majority of singaporeans willing to give up eating out? Minimum wage will hardly affect the wages of those middle/upper income families, which are the majority of population in Singapore, while substantially increasing the cost of living for them. Not to mention, prices of houses will go up too.
