Hi Guys,

I’m a Rolex noob here. I’m planning to get my first Rolex, Explorer II Polar Dial from local AD. Do I need to put my name in the waitlist on Cortina or The Hour Glass to secure it? Let’s say really need to go through waitlist, how long do you guys think is required for this model?

What is this premium you guys are saying? Can pay premium and no need wait in the waitlist? I’m quite confused about this. And how much is the premium.

And also how do I know the accurate retail price of the watch before I visit the shop?

PS. I don’t think I want to get my first Rolex from anywhere else aside from the local AD.

Faint. I thought everyone would be looking for Daytona, Hulk, Pepsi and Sub or other more popular models, so got high chance Explorer II not so high demand and got chance of shorter waiting time.

Do you walk in to a few ADs to put your name in the name list? Higher chance if try all the different AD? Need put money first to get your name in the list? Abit regret joining the Rolex hobby so late.

And saw some comments saying the AD will look at your watches and dressing when you enters the boutique, if I walk in with a below $1k Seiko watch then gone case liao? 😅

Pardon me if I ask too many questions, I’m totally new.

No more waiting list. Only interest list that they practically waste your time by filling up.
If you only want 1 watch, suck it up. Pay for it from outside shops who are selling it for 1-2k more, brand new.
No need wait. No need waste time.

Am looking for a 116610LN for brand new for $14K. Where can I find one? Usually those outside shops are selling for $15K and above. :(

impossible to find brand new at 14k. no one will sell at 14k knowing market is hovering ard 15k. gotta to be realistic abit, else just wait only till when no one knows.

I have quite a few friends who put down their names for Daytona’s with multiple AD’s in 2016, once in a while walk in and check...etc.

Still waiting in 2020.

But they’re ok with it. They refuse to pay premiums. If have good, if not wear their other watches or Apple Watch.

Rolex game really very sad now...

part of problem is cos it has been so popular for so long and many people having prior experience from past vs present or knowledge of how drastic the market has changed, and hence reluctance to accept the situation.

Not only Rolex. I bought my 5712 at below retail price, cheaper than the market price for a Daytona now. Only the really special models have any inflated prices because they are truly rare. Not like now, Explorer 1 also inflated.

Possible alot brands not selling well.

They need to use rolex to cover back operating cost . As rolex is the only Brand that selling well.

Rental + salary go up ...

Yet they cannot don’t sell other brands, which possible they pay listing fees on their retail shops. But rolex no need to pay yet selling the best .
