Premier League need 14-club majority to void season and stop Liverpool winning title… but who would back the axe?
LIVERPOOL could be denied their first league title in 30 years if 14 Premier League clubs agree to axe the season.
The English top-flight has been suspended until April 4 at the earliest due to the global outbreak of coronavirus.
Premier League chiefs are set to hold an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss plans for the end of the season.
As it stands, Jurgen Klopp's side sit 25 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the pile after 29 matches.
But Liverpool's fate could lie in the hands of the other 19 teams in the league.
Premier League chiefs could be forced to call on a majority decision if this season cannot be continued as planned.
For a rule to be imposed, the Evening Standard claim 14 of the 20 clubs in the league will have agree on a decision.
One option would be to end the season as it stands - which is an idea that will most certainly have Liverpool's support.
Another idea would be to host a play-off competition, while others have claimed the season should be void.
SunSport columnist Karren Brady insisted the Premier League season must be ruled null and void if the players cannot play again.
