When I was in school, a bowl of noodles was 10 cents, Rolex was only for ah peks and a Daytona was the ugly duckling of the Rolex family.

My first submariner was $3k+. My first Daytona was less than $10k.

When I bought my PP 5712, it cost less than a ceramic Daytona on Carousell now.

No need to compare last time and now. Irrelevant.

If you want to buy something NOW, you gotta pay the price NOW. The market changes.

If you only want to pay RRP or below, then just gotta wait until the market is in that situation. Nothing wrong with that.

What's irritating is complaining about it when you can simply choose not ride the hype and buy another watch that is actually fairly priced.

Get an Omega, JLC, Breguet, Cartier, Zenith, Moser & Cie, Nomos, Laurent Ferrier, Glashutte... There are a tonne of watches that are fantastic value for money especially in the preowned market.

It's just a watch.

UNLESS it isn't JUST a watch, in which case, the pricing is exactly where it needs to be.
if want near RRP, BNIB half gold black sub in stock. can show receipt for proof of purchase. :s12:

This dealer is crazy... If you look at his inventory, he's selling all his watches at ridiculously inflated prices.

I don't think he has actual stock. Most likely a dropshipper or middleman kind of seller, like many of the Carousell sellers are.

Not sure if you noticed, but sometimes there could be a few sellers listing the exact same pre-owned watch, prices also around same ballpark.

There seems to be a few big syndicates bringing the watches in and subbing them out to several sellers to sell.

well said... :D claps claps

(no, i sincerely mean claps claps, not sarcastically haha)

i was on the hunt for a BB58 last year, the ever-increasing retail price + presence of a waitlist + AD's game of saying you are on their waitlist but you aren't actually on it really puts me off.

i used the funds for BB58 to purchase a Omega SMP (white dial) which i only had to wait 1 week for...who is to say the Omega is not just as good (or better) than a Tudor BB58? :s13: ok la once a while i do complain/make fun of Rolex/Tudor waitlist but nothing serious :D

I dare say way better than bb58

The master co-axial one up the tudor bb in house.
Finishing also better.
Open case back.
Ceramic bezel and dial.
Same price.

I say, good for you!

You’re very clear about what you want, which is a quality watch. When you found out the one you initially wanted has other factors tied to it, you found an alternative. In fact, the alternative seems to be of higher quality for about the same price. It’s a win-win.

Some people think they want buy a quality watch, but actually want status more. And when they can’t afford “status”, they blame everyone else for making the price of “status” unattainable.

To be honest, rolex is high end for masses.
Not super ups but good enough for everyone.
Like a mercedes.
Not super super ex but not cheap. However, whole road flooded with them.

Honestly, from my perspective, I thought only older people like me like Rolex, and not because Rolex is cool, but rather, it’s safe and reliable.

I remember when I wore Rolex 20 years ago, the younger kids would always comment “Eee, Rolex, ah pek watch...”

Then suddenly, recently all the younger people thought Rolex became cool.

As the Pontiff mentioned in his latest video, you got to be the second last idiot when buying luxury goods. You got to have one idiot in front of you who will buy it from you.

Selling at 13800. Worth it not? Maybe can discount 1-200 dollar more that’s it....
