I was using ATP3 too and it became a little cranky so I changed to Edifier R1280DB + Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Fx. Works for me.

Hi, looking for a suggestion/feedback for a new speaker.
Recently my swan M10 subwoofer started buzzing non stop so I am looking for a new speaker.

Budget 100-200~. Usage will be video, music & games so all-rounder will be good.

Right now I have following shortlisted

- Edifier R1280DB, too big almost not possible to fit
- Kanto Yu 2, good small footprint but is it available locally?
- Swan Hivi M50W, can fit my setup but exceed my budget significantly

Much appreciated. :)

Is possible either use optical or RCA but it is stereo/2.0.
If you want surround effect best would be 2.1 speakers.
Not much choices other than Logitech Z623/Z625, Klispch Promedia 2.1
or Aego M3

The issue with Audioengine isn't really about the amps killing themselves. (They usually last more than 3 years 5 years anyway, which is good enough for actives.) It's their performance/price ratio is horrible.

Now that I have evidence of A5+ using EQ internally to boost the bass, I have reasons to believe A5 also does that. (Plus the fact that, like A5+, it also have 5 op-amps doing unknown things)

Or in other words, it's not recommended to run these speakers passive unless you apply back the EQ.

Your amp is ok. Most speakers have distortion levels way above a typical amp. When you need more power due to bigger room and higher listening levels, then change the amp.

For an upgrade, ELAC Debut Reference is a good position at SGD$850.

This post brought me out of hibernation to post for the first time in a long time

I have been looking at the elacs for awhile but i have always wondered do people actually use em as computer speakers? and if so, what amps do they use?

You can use any amp you want. Does a CPU behave differently when you use a different PSU?

Just an update. In the end I decided to go for Edifier R1850DB, used it for about a week now.

The size of this 2.0 bookshelf speaker is slightly bigger than the normal computer speakers I had before but it fits my setup just nice. I connect it through the optical cable to my motherboard.

Sound quality wise, no complaints. I was actually surprised at the clarity of this speaker the first time I tested it. Feels like a much superior higher end audio speaker compared to the muffled bass heavy z623. Bass on this 2.0 is also surprisingly decent as well for me, and I just leave the bass knob at middle(there is also a connection for subwoofer should I need one).

Overall, this is a good buy for me.:)

It's a better speaker than the z623 for sure

What would be a good choice for 2.0 speakers or soundbar?
Budget below $250.
Connecting to sound card in pc.

Prefer 2.0 over 2.1 due to space constraint.

Edit: if really go for 2.1 apparently klipsch promedia 2.1 is a very popular choice..

I would take a good 2.0 over a 2.1 of the same price.

Take your M50W for example, I would use an R2000DB if I have to choose between the two.

Noted bro. Any recommendation for 2.0? I looked thru the thread u mentioned creative T20 and T40. Which led me to found T100 now. But seems like not much reviews.

forget creative.

grab swans m10. cheap and good for its price. if my youtube video sounds good with it, i mean it.

if more $, grab swans m50 but the woofer quite big.

can also consider logitech Z623, i use it for my tv.

soundwise, still prefer swans. Both M50 and Z623 can get quite loud.
