As above.
Try it?

It’s like an answering machine. If it’s important, leave a voice message. I don’t like texting. Annoying as hell because the other party will turn it into an SMS conservation. MR’s VoiceMail is an attraction for me. I don’t even know they have it until someone mentioned it earlier.

After 1GB, annoying SMSes. I’m not a power user. My data usage is mainly to check bus timings, book cabs, SingPass, mobile banking, PayNow and read news feed. I used Spofity, very fast hit limit. Then browsing damn bloody slow like 3G speed or slower. But usually, I will be near SG@Wireless for free WiFi and auto switch to it. Plus, I’m paying more for less if I want to compare Zero1 and MR.

Lite usage, myrepublic $10 will be good. Good amount of data and 300mins 300sms. Giga 100mins will be a little. Tpg limited connection at underground will be a concern.

For light usage, advisable to go for MR Lite or Giga or TPG?
Seeing that the plans are all $10..

Zero1 you get throttle at 512kbps at first and it lower to 256kbps

MyRepublic you get throttle at 386kbps.

Look like 6gb should be enough for you. Why not try it?

I already have MR Lite. just looking around for better unlimited data option that is even more usable than 384kbps.

I just ported from M1 to MR.

With both SIM cards in the same phone for a day before the port-over, I can see the signal strength from MR is slightly weaker than M1 by 1 or 2 dBm most of the time - but that's OK.

Data usage seems to be faster on MR compared to M1 - but that's OK to me as well.

What puts me off is the voicemail service and the inability to turn it off. Caller will be directed to the voicemail (you will be charged outgoing minutes) when you don't answer, when you reject the call or when you are out of coverage. So how to reject those SCAM calls from overseas? If you don't answer or reject it, it will go into your voicemail directly and use up your outgoing minutes.

Suggest u leave a comment in their Facebook page.

Now I divert various call types to +651. E.g. when unreachable, caller will hear an engage tone & line cut off. Side effect is missed call notification won't work.

Someone suggested to use the welcome answering message, that will also deduct from the bundle minutes when u receive a call.

1. I am actually in contact with MR and waiting for them to give a proper resolution.
2. The answering message suggestion does not solve the problem. Voicemail still gets deposited.
3. Your suggestion of diverting various call types seems like a workable idea. Thanks!!!

voice mail is annoying and it eats up call minutes as concurred by the majority of the guys here. must get rid of voice mail or at least ensure it does not eat into call minutes.

My update on timeline for port-in based on my experience.

- signed up for MR Lite (May last week) to port in
- received email from MR on June 1 that order has been approved
- received SIM on June 3
- received welcome email on June 4
- received SMS on June 4 that application to port has been sent to my previous telco

hi, does this mean that if a caller leaves me a voicemail for 1 minute, that 1 minute is taken out from my monthly quota?

oh wait... i just went to read online and confirm they deduct voicemail deposits from monthly quota.

Correction: it’s the Answer Service Message & not welcome message. Activate Answer Service Message will cease VM service. Caller will hear the prerecorded message (stored by the owner) & the line will cut off at the end. 1min will be deducted from the bundle minutes. Missed call notification will work with this service activated.

so what does it mean exactly?

since the voicemail cannot be deactivated, it will never have missed calls alert rite? i dun think they exist concurrently. other telcos also same. either you have voice mail or missed call alert and not both.

this is still confusing.

Default: Voice mail enabled -> No missed call alert -> One get charged for anyone who call him/her with no answering calls/or no coverage?

Activate Answer Service Message -> Missed call alert -> One get charged for anyone who call him/her with no answering calls/or no coverage and the caller will listen to a recorded message?

technically both ways, one will still get charged mininum of 1 min talktime and only difference is whether the missed call alert will be activated?

Who the fuk still uses voicemail today? Miss call alert is the most efficient way forward. There's no need for long debates.

Caller -> Leave msg -> Voicemail Alert -> User dial into voicemail -> Check msg -> Return call
Caller -> Miss Call Alert -> Return call

It's a no brainer. I can't be bothered to dial and listen to voicemails either.

It's a relic of the past. No idea why telcos still want to hang onto old tech that people hardly use.

Maybe some use for enterprise, but consumers i dare say majority dont bother

Depends on who leaves the message, I sometimes still retrieve it. Some parents might still leave voice message to their child. The child might be busy working and unable to pick up phone, so leaving a voicemail will be ideal for them. Not everyone parents uses whatsapp.
There is still some sorts of usage.

Apart from call centres, no one uses voicemail anymore. There should be an option for user to disable it but sadly MR doesn't allow it at this point.

Fortunately, someone in this forum gave a workable workaround
