Bios settings always reset to default when booting up PC..

I already changed to a new CMOS battery but Bios settings don't hold. My motherboard about 8 years old. What could be the problem?

You mean CMOS battery? I tried changing to new battery 2 times. But still have the same problem..

well, if changing battery doesn't fix the problem
means ur mb dying....got some part related to battery spoil

A possible workaround is to set the PC to sleep or hibernate instead of powering off.

the battery contact, try bending up the metal contact in case it's contact issue...

Some parts of my motherboard is rusty.. I am afraid its dying soon..

Check the CMOS reset jumper(usually 2 pins), then refer to the motherboard manual and ensure that it's not on the clear CMOS position.

Sounds like there is a problem with the battery contact,.. is there any rust that can be cleaned up?

Also if its 8 years old its a granny board,... may want to consider upgrading
