[HELP] On mobo PCIe slots / bandwidth

Below illustration of my mobo's PCIe slots.

PCI_E1 is taken up by gpu.

I'm going to install a m.2 x4 adapter card. Which slots should I use? Or doesn't matter at all? Thanks.

From MSI's website, your mobo supports the following
• 4 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (support x16/0/0/x4, x8/0/x8/x4 or x8/x4/x4/x4 modes)
• 3 x PCIe 3.0 x1 slots

So you can place your x4 adapter in pcie slots 3, 5 or 7 (makes no difference). The adapter will operate at x4 speed, while your GPU will operate at x8 instead of current x16 (should not be a major impact to performance since x8 is still plenty of bandwidth).

if plug into PCI_E3 or E5 your GPU will drop to x8
