min wage policy will not close gap between rich and poor. min wage policy is to guarantee the low wage workers dont be short changed by employers who must give then a min standard of wage thats survivable in that country.

min wage is no magic bullet bec the companies will just cut down on manpower and squeeze the existing ppl.

i feel we should look further like how to make profitable businesses share their profit more to their employees and for sg gov to cut tax, erp, gst, hdb inflatted price they are all taking toll on general population. yes its v complex not like a min wage policy which is so simple but not helpful to most ppl.

rem its not just the lowest wage workers have problem surviving in sg. most ppl working in sg are suffering even up to middle class, u pay as u earn, pay and pay and pay. sg is 1 of the most expensive cities in the world.

This is the reason why EDMW is a joke nowadays.

Means closing the gap between the rich and the poor. That's why the elite are pro pap because gov take care of their pocket. If they need to retrench and close down business because they cannot afford the min wage, there will always be someone else who can takeover this business for less profit.

naive......

The wage gap will increase.

Bosses who exercise compassion will lose out even more, and their businesses will fall into the hands of more stingy bosses....

Gov should raise income tax and not gst as sg gst applies across all goods and services. In other countries there are higher gst got luxury products.

Work on the existing progressive income tax model, don't need to increase the low level taxes (ie. 40k and below) but increase more from the 40k threshold. Can tax 30% for those in the 320k threshold.

Min wage policy is exactly targeting the stingy bosses who short change local employees

I have to agree ... Jamus getting a little big headed about himself...

LTK and Sylvia never go counsel the guy and try to tell him not to be too blunt..

the stingy bosses will just ask lousy ppl to fug off, and squeeze the hardworking ones more....

the non-stringy bosses will accept unproductive ppl and eventually lose competition to stingy bosses...
