Ya, miui feels over engineered and some UI issues.

Eg.

Sometimes the locked screen lights up very dim when notifications come in.

The always on display clock overlaps over the fingerprint sensor icon.

Quick reply areas are too tiny. Sometimes whatsapp want to tap reply or mark as read from the pull down, accidentally open the app instead cos tap outside the words area.

Removed the quick screen orientation function when rotating phone. I turn off auto rotate so it's useful to have that quick rotate option.

Weird and overly large line spacing on homepage and menu items which makes placing widgets difficult.

One thing at turns me off most is the overly sized font in miui11. But miui 12 seems better though... Dillema...

Just jump. Xiaomi phones have a lot developer support, can switch to stock android easily without worrying about tripping knox. Miui is also very customizable, can easily swap fonts.

Out of the box have it already?
Nope. Mine is HK set flash to china firmware. I'm surprised by how clean china firmware is. Not a single china app, not a single google bloatware but google services installed by default. So, just transfer play store apk from tab S7+ and install, I'm good to go. Even samsung app are not much by default on this firmware. After flashing, I did a clean wipe and setup as new, very smooth and much smoother than HK firmware. The most surprising thing is there are a few more functions which cannot be found on local and HK firmware. Example like, displaying network info on status bar, native app lock, allow whatever app to run upon startup, auto switch from 5G to LTE to preserve battery and LTE to 5G whenever needed etc. Last, all functions which I used on HK firmware are in this china firmware also and OTA updates available also as I flash the previous version and software updates prompt me for updates.

Yes you can only do this for the China/HK/TW sets as they are identical hardware. I didn't do this for my Note 20 Ultra, but tried it on the S20 Ultra.

Yes the power management screen is different for the CHC firmware.

Yes, usually see the carrier logo when using my phone as I work near Johor and have a tendency to get Malaysia signal.

As in showing singtel, m1 or starhub logo? I can't find option for this.

Nope. Can't find option to enable it. I manually select network so that it will not auto "roam" to Malaysia network. I'm also working in the north, not too far custom also.

Hope that there is an option to turn on the network icon.

Another bug, alarm widget show 5 minutes delay when using third party app.

Update your software to the latest! It's back! Just needa slide down the notification bar and you'll see the Telco again.
