Typically Singtel. -_- Disclaimer, I have two other active users so I can't kick them off. Shouldn't be this bad though.

wow.. so your international speeds are indeed very low!! btw are u using singtels dns or your own? i transmit all my dns traffic over an ipsec tunnel from my mikrotik to hopefully avoid DPI!!

16-18MBps. Not fantastic. Yes I know the speeds are unthrottled. It was just a convenient tool for testing at various international servers without jumping from server to server, and a stark reality - that unthrottled and priority given, we are still getting poor pings and speeds on the international stage.

Did u know myrepublic is unthrottled? This was what I get before I tried to be a cheapo and go whizcomm

I effectively maxed out my M1 500Mbps connection downloading that using IDM. :s13:

Single connections are a better measure of throttling. Your m1 she be less than 20MB

Looks like timing matters. Friday night speeds are lower than Saturday morning. Am generally getting better speeds overall, but no major breakthroughs.

Milo, you using your "Arca-tik" router?

No. Usually Google and other big companies with streaming services like YouTube will have CDNs across the world and YouTube will certainly have local servers.

yep! seeing these speeds no wonder using internet over my ipsec vpn from the arcatik to azure feels more consistent (pushing 180mbps through ipsec tunnel)

After the content is mirrored, yes. But to assume that all of the content is mirrored might not be accurate.

most of the content should be mirrored since google cdns in singapore serve the entire apac region incl malaysia

Just curious, what is this "Arca-tik" router? Hacked Arcadyan router running MikroTik ROS?

Wow, great speeds. It will surely help users who are looking to switch, as it gives them an objective basis for comparison.

The other way around actually. A Mikrotik with the MAC changed to Arcadyan's OUI. Milo put forward a hypothesis above that it could improve Singtel throughput (and demonstrating that they might have in place systems to "punish" users who use their own routing equipment over their Arcadyan ones by deprioritising their traffic).

Oh, and do share your speeds too! This is meant for community information, so the more users onboard, the better.

...

anyways dk if this helps, but i use a mikrotik router, and I notice setting my mac address to a "known OUI" eg 48:8D:36 (arcadyan) might improve performance (not sure of its just a placebo :) )

...

yep, and the funny part was that i set my oui as "razer router" before, and when FE came to replace my ont and put the backend on speakerphone, the backend exclaimed "this guy has a razer router!!". i was laughing like hell:s22:

Singtel 1Gbps plan, ONT --> Singtel Mesh Router --> Huawei AX3 Pro (Double NAT) --> Laptop with Ugreen USB 3 Ethernet adapter.

8pm-8:30pm, 7-Nov-2020, Saturday night. Very slow upload speed tonight. Got three other family members using internet (Taobao, Wechat video playing, etc) along with my testing.
