I ported out on Monday night 2/11, but was still charged on the 5th (my billing time is 5th of every month around 9pm). Do I have a case to get a refund?

If I'm not wrong, giga policy is one must notify them 3 days before billing cycle, to terminate at the end of the current cycle.

So if that applies to porting, then it probably also means u should port out 3 days before 5th of the month otherwise will be charged the next month subscription.

what are the drawbacks on GIGA if there is? other than the VOLTE issue when calling?

Another from my short span experience was the accessibility to customer support.
They are contactable only through chat channels on the giga website/mobile app, Facebook messenger. Chat agents are only available during working hours and had to wait approximately close to 60 mins for a live agent to be assigned to chat with.

When you say notify does it mean must write email to them? Because 3 days before the 5th is the 2nd which is the day I port out. The request was sent around 2.30pm, and received another sms saying the request is approved at 5.30pm. Not sure whether the 5.30pm affected the billing.

+1 to this.

I waited 45 min to be connected 3 days ago

MyRepublic is the best $10 plan with low latency of the M1 network.

Nothing else come closer unless you want to be beta tester of the 5G network

Which is better — GIGA or MR? I was previously on TPG trial plan and actually intended to continue with the $10 plan cos for 50gb its really cheap. But super pissed off cos they cancelled my plan even though I responded that I want to continue. And even though I immediately contacted them, they said can’t restore. Somemore it’s my work line, damn inconvenient

Just wondering if 6gb is enough though cos I play games on that phone too.

It's normal for giga to be like this. Inferior network to Singtel and it's mvnos. If you want faster speeds, chose grid or gomo.

I think for porting, just make sure u initiate your number porting at the new telco early enough so that the porting takes place at least 3 days before your billing cycle.

May be you check your previous charges to your credit card bill and see whether your port date is before or after that date.

In anycase, I don't think there is any cost to disputing the charge at the credit card centre (you can ask your credit card company when you dispute). So initiate a dispute first. They may reverse the charge also.

Good luck !

I finally got my reply back. Wrote to their gigacares email and said will refund me hooray.

Anyway, before contacting giga I tried disputing with the charge with DBS (card issuing bank). They said they don’t handle this kind of case and I should contact the merchant, and if all fails contact CASE? I’m not sure whether I’m doing something wrong or I’m supposed to contact visa/master? Hope someone can enlighten me
