Cheap and good AMD board !!

I bought an Asrock B450 steel legend in SLS on Sunday. The best thing is that its just $138. I feel its quite a good deal so sharing it.

Its just a basic board. There is no PCIE 4.0, but I don't think I really need it. I am just building a budget PC using my spare Ryzen 1700 CPU, so I think its good enough. Mainboards are getting rather expensive these days. Most of over $200, then the budget A-series don't even allow OC. So, I think this one is quite a good deal.

Ya, it's a one of the best wallet friendly board you can get If you don't mind the buggy Polychrome RGB.

OK, my casing does not have window so it did not really matter to me. I have to say I am not a fan of RGB lights.

Oh, thats nice! I feel it has been a long long time since we have wallet friendly no frills board and yet overclockable.

overclock CPU out the box, doesn't have much luck with RAM though. unable to apply more than 1.35v to the RAM. Tried once have to remove motherboard battery to clear the cache

This thread gave me an idea... instead of going for a full overhaul, maybe I can just change my Skylake motherboard into one that has DDR4 and NVME and then move back to mATX at the same time.

Only problem is I dunno whether it is the CPU or motherboard having the p-state change problem. If it's the motherboard I would gladly go for the change immediately. If it's the CPU...

I guess for 80 bucks it's worth a gamble...

Then again a B450 motherboard costs around the same and I can just slap in a 3100 for $130
