Are OLED TVs still facing burn in issues? I've been thinking of getting the LG CX series too, but I remember that OLED burn in was a huge deterring factor when I was doing homework for my TV purchase 5 years back.

Yes, still a potential issue, but I think gaming shouldn't be as bad because more changes in the screen display elements, unless you play MMORPG 12 hours one shot.

I think more risky if planning on using it to watch TV, especially news channel for long hours, cause of a lot of static bars and lines.

General viewing, like movies and gaming IMO is still not that risky.

Though end of the day, it all depends on what you value, LCD and OLED both have pros and cons.

For me in the living room I prefer LCD, which I have, even though it's entry level. But for bedroom where I use it less frequent and generally in darker lighting, the OLED is much better.

Its kinda odd that this thread has now kinda change its chatter to TV. But I too am considering also, so I'll chime in :)

However, my consideration points are
1. For gaming (1st) since its in my study room
2. Occasional Netflix/Apple TV

Thus, must haves
- Size: 55' 4K
- HDMI 2.1
- Variable Refresh Rate
- eARC
- 4k/120hz
- Around budget $1k (not gonna spend on OLED as I assume true blacks are good mainly for movies)

Kinda narrowed down to 2 choices on Carousell really
1. TCL QLED 55R635 ($950)
- 1 year warranty by parallel importer
- ROKU OS, not sure if it works in SG despite ROKU having one of the best OS with all apps

2. Samsung QLED 55Q70T ($1,200)
- 3 years warranty
- Tizen OS, with all apps supported

Will prob wait for the Samsung QLED Q70T to drop price further then go in for it.

That TCL doesn't have HDMI 2.1 nor does it support 4k120hz.

For all those considering the X9000H, I strongly recommend waiting for the existing 4k120hz blur bug to be resolved and for VRR to be added before jumping in. I am extremely wary of Sony's implementation of VRR after seeing how their 4k120hz mode turned out.

Oh boy. I initially thought that the TCL R635 was defecto budget tv for the new consoles. Guess I’m wrong. Thanks for the heads up.

And I’m definitely not considering Sony. Their firmware updates still pending. Not taking the risk w my wallet.

Drop by Best Denki during lunch to check out LG OLED CX 55 and 65... the price for 55 is now $2649 + $300 grocery vouchers ... but the sales there kept saying LG OLED screen burn in issue belly serious belly bad (then show me by putting on some yellow boxes on screen, and really leh ! immediacy have screen shadow...) ... then keep insisting Samsung QLED QA55 a lot better ...

Yup. Typical scare tactic by salesman who has commission for promoting a certain brand. :s13:

Remember. Retail stores don't have time to manually use a remote to turn off the TVs. They just immediately turn it off from the wall.

Meaning, TVs such as the OLED don't have the chance to run their compensation cycle to clear up the screen while in standby mode.

Also note, they are playing videos at full brightness and on repeat. Something no ordinary person will be doing at home. So chances of us ordinary folks causing burn-in on our TVs are much lower.

Here's mine after 3900+ hours with the C9.
Was just playing a game on the PS5 and in HDR.
And as you can see, no image retention even even though I immediately switched to my PC to show the yellow screen via a Display Tester app on Windows 10.

Colour difference is my phone tinting the yellows. I forgot to take a picture in Pro mode to prevent colour tinting from Auto in the camera selecting different scenes.

But use it to help see if you notice any burn-in. Letalone even seeing an image retention. You can also refer to the LG thread. Where most OLED customers are talking about games and features as opposed to complaining about getting burn-in.

Yeah they do that even in HN. They probably need to dispose those samsung units.
