Probably depends of your toaster. If it is THE Mitsubishi DO NOT use one which is not suitable for electrical appliances.

And when you figure out which one is suitable for the Mitsu, please let me know, I would really want to have some good toast :D

It really is! 😂 That's why the worries is bigger here haha

So you would not recommend the Yazawa transformer?

I'll let you know how it taste if it works 🤣

Double check with seller if input = 220-240v, output = the one required for your toaster.

Okay let me ask them on this! Thanks so much!

Aside from it(if it's not suitable), any recommendations on where I could get that brick transformer over here?

Nothing much locally..since anything supporting that high a wattage would be ex and size like a brick..

Nissyo DE-200 lasted about 2 seconds. Has pretty much same warning labels as Yazawa: Transformer (for exclusive use of down trance, heat appliances)

Curiously Mitsu has 5* review in shopee, wonder where buyer found suitable transformer.

Your transformer was dead or your item? Hmm I saw that too, but I've been reading up on Amazon reviews and it seems using a transformer (1000w) works for them albeit it's the brick size ones.

Just curious, what was your item that you used with it?

Yup, I am really much contemplating on the Yazawa due to it's small size form factor. The only thing I was worried because it mentions that it does not support electrical appliances with microprocessors (which I'm pretty sure my toaster does haha)

What do you think of this "Bestrans 2000w travel 220v 230v 240v to 100v 110v step down high voltage power transformer converter for the US Japan appliances using in Singapore" from Lazada.

A lil cheaper due to sales at the moment although it's bigger :/

TO-ST1-T ;)

I really hope it's the transformer that broke, it was the one making all the buzz and bangs.

Maybe you can try exploring simlim tower? My advice is if your appliance is rated at 1000W, get something slightly higher like 1100W to be on the safe side. Such transformers are not built exactly to give 1000W but may be less or slightly more. I got mine at yodobashi and was recommended 20% higher than what my appliance need.

Also, at 1000W they generate a lot of heat so do get one with a better heat dissipation model. Usually the "better" transformers are bigger with plenty of holes on top.

bestrans is not found pretty much anywhere but lazada, and even in pics it says umi. Search amazon for Umi stepdown converter, find 2000w one and details might give you better idea what the product is and does. Looks tempting - just unsure do i want bestrans branded model (umi is $170 in laz). After all toaster was us$500 with shipping and import tax, trying again to save cents doesn't sound tempting idea.

From amazon for Umi:

Can you also plug in it a laptop and cell phone/tablets, or is it only for appliances?
Answer:Yes, it's also ok for laptop and cell phone, while, I do not think you need to use it, as in my opinion, it's 100V-240V, you could double check your manual.

Nice! High 5! I didn't expect there would be others buying it as well aside from the one review from Shopee 🤣

So right now, the toaster is not being used at all?

Thanks for the recommendation! I was actually considering to go to Sim Lim to buy one (eventhough it's the brick size) but ultimately found a nicer size which suits my needs and maybe a smaller footprint compared to the Brick sizer ver. I bought a 2000w step down transformer and at a reasonable price thanks to Black Friday sales. Hopefully it will work!

Oh I actually bought the Besttrans(seeing the pic, it says UMI) and I figured the only difference that it is cheaper because of the lack of display screen (older model perhaps). Found their official website too.

I got it ard $80 thanks to Lazada vouchers 😂. The newer model was in the range of $110-120 onwards during Black Friday sale while the older model was less $100 depending on the wattage you want.

Overall I figured, the size looks small and might fit my needs and since I have doubts the Yazawa might not work (at the same price). I just bought this instead.

Waiting for it to arrive hopefully before Christmas! If you're keen on getting one, get it during the 12.12 sale, it might be cheaper!

UPDATE:

Would recommend the "UMI" transformer. It worked for my toaster!

Advice to future people who are buying Japanese appliances.

Make sure to get a transformer that is at least 10-20% higher than what your appliance need.

If you have rice cooker, hairdryer with ioniser function, toaster, or anything that has a microprocessor chip inside. Best to get a proper transformer.

Otherwise, the ones recommended are the Yazawa/Nissyo because of it's small form factor.

Hope this helps! 😁

Thanks for sharing. Just googled a bit and UMI looks good. Is this what you bought and how much did you get it for?

Yup you're right, but mine is without the LCD screen. I'm guessing mine was an older model. I got it around $80 from Lazada due to Black Friday sales!

One thing to note, it is actually heavy, even though it looks light. But the overall size is good enough (i would compare it to a height of an average toaster oven)

Please do NOT go with Nissyo. Even in the package (in Japanese) it says "not for electrical devices like rice cookers". It's only meant for dummy blow dryers, radiators etc. simple devices.

But thanks for the info, I'll get UMI shipped home :)

Great! get the 2000w (without the LCD screen). It does the job and you do not need a screen to just see the wattage haha.

So far I've been enjoying my toasts a lot! No regrets! Worth the investment!

Hope you have a good experience with it too! 👍🏻

I received my transformer but unfortunately my misstep with Nissyo did cause some damage - so just in case anyone is thinking of trying to save a few pennies (with worlds most expensive toaster..) - DO NOT get Nissyo. Get one that is for rice cookers - NOT one for simple heating devices.

VSR1 blew up before Fuse1 gave up. I'll give a dollar for anyone who can find me out exact type of the VSR used on the circuit as text on mine pretty literally blow into pieces :D

Hey guys, my griller from japan is 100v, 1350w, 50/60hz.

If i get a 2500w step down transformer to step down our voltage to 100v, technically, it should work the same as in Japan, right?

Last week I accidentally ordered a wrong one, it only step down to 110v and my appliance got a little bit hot. I quickly switch it off.

I desperately need the product and have to get it to work :(

Appreciate your kind advice.
