Thank you all for your reply!

Followed up with the staff at JP and they said they have a decagon - 0.54c G internally flawless at 4.3k. Personally, I am a little bit put off by the color because when i was physically at the shop, we did a comparison between E and G and there was a visible difference (not sure if this was white series though). Is anyone able to opine on G for white series and if they have ever done a comparison between white series G and SIC D/E?

Did you compare the G decagon itself with a D/E SIC? My decagon is a G Color and I thought it looks very white. I couldn't see any yellow in it at all and thought it looks more like a D. lol. You can request for them to show you under different lighting and outside the shop too. See it in different lights or rather best is to compare under white lights.

My gf and her friends were all impressed with the decagon. Its super shiny especially when my gf moves her hands around. They all thought it was the top color also. lol. I didn't correct them when they said they thought it was a D :s13:

Thanks for the advice! It provides me with alot of comfort over the color haha. I will be heading down to the store again to do a "side-to-side" comparison between the two. I see from your post that you waited 2 months for it. Is that because you had to pre-order yours? If yes, do you know if pre-ordering is always available?

Ya, I had to pre-order mine that time as they didnt have any available ones for me. I believe you can pre-order one from them if they don't have one in the specs you want. Just need to be prepared to wait for them to custom cut.

I had a look at my decagon ring today again. Can't stop staring at the sparkles and the way it moves. Its like a work of art. Haha.

I just got notified that my AGS report but the date stated is August 31, 2020. However, I only went to JP on October and placed a deposit - which I was told that I have to wait about 3-4 months for my diamond. Does that suggest some bro just rejected this piece of diamond recently? 😬

Anyway can I check if I had requested for the ASET image, will JP send it to me before or after I have collected the diamond?

There's a possibility that it might have originally been meant for their own inventory then just nice fit your specs. If not, you can always wait for another one that will fit your specs better.

They usually send the ASET and other scope images before you decide or collect your ring.

Right!

Your view is a possibility as well. Thanks for the input! Anyway the specs are good and matches what I am looking out for.

I was just curious (and excited) that my waiting time has been shortened

Sounds like the diamond that I rejected. Is the cert dated 30 Sept?

https://www.diamonds.net/News/NewsI...4&ArticleTitle=Rapaport+Weekly+Market+Comment

This is good read if you guys wanna know about the general diamond demand. Its been awhile now..

"Excellent cuts and nice shapes in demand and selling at premiums. Rising orders in China helping the market. Dealers hoping for increased sales of fancy-shape engagement rings as consumers seek alternative designs at lower cost. High availability of fancies below 1 ct. Off-make, poorly cut fancies illiquid and difficult to sell."

"High-end goods outperforming commercial qualities and maintaining prices amid shortages of 4 ct.+, D, IF diamonds. Wholesalers struggling to source matching 1 to 2 ct., G-H, VS-SI pairs for earrings, which are popular gift items."

''Signs of loosening cross-border restrictions, with move to create travel bubble with Singapore. Difficult to find top-quality 1 ct. stones.''

Basically post-covid people are looking for real Super Ideals due to the value retention.

Paul mentioned this in his video awhile back as well that China already bought up alot of good quality diamonds. So this leave the floating market with lots of rubbish.

No wonder my friend was telling me that he can't find much options in the 1ct range. Alot of them had poor proportions.. lol
He ended up pre-ordering JP's round 10 hearts/arrows.

Hi guys, just in case you need a ringbox for your special day. Check out FORTBRIDAL on instagram. Had mine done 2 years ago with them, fully satisfied with it.

Did u guys bargain with JP?

Don’t think can bargain. You just got to tell them your budget and work around your budget (carat, shape, clarity, setting, etc).

Else can go to other diamond retailer to purchase it. Round cuts are plenty in the market if you don’t think their white series is worth the buy.

Anybody know how much a JP Oval white series 1.8 carat might cost?

In case anybody is looking for oval white series >1.5 carat. We just made a deposit on an Oval White Series G VS2!

Quotes for diamond only:
1.51 G VVS2 - $22,500
1.70 to 1.75 G VS1/VS2 - $28,000 to $30,000
1.80 G VVS1/VS2 - $31,000 to $34,000

Since the oval white series is so new, we had nothing to base price comparison on for its size. Went to other stores and yes, they carry oval cuts of the same weight for half the price, but the light leakages and bow tie really bothered me! Ended up choosing JP as we fell in love with the prototype they had in store. We also changed our design / carat size over 4 times and JP was kind enough to render and craft 2 wax moulds of different diamond carat sizes for me. Great service!

Wait time for a custom cut oval is currently 3 to 4 months. Will update again with specs when it comes in.

To the JP shi fus here - what happens next? Does JP keep us in the loop when they source a rough, cut the diamond etc? What should I be asking for in the mean time?

Congrats! I think G VS2 is the sweet spot. Especially for their white series. I saw their Oval white series video. It's out of this world. Cannot compare with the old oval cuts. Once you compare the old and new oval cuts, you cannot bring yourself to go back to the old oval. The new one totally outshines it.

Meantime, you probably can start discussing on your ring design to save time while their custom cut your diamond.

Thank you!! We have thankfully already provided a design to them. We'll be getting a 3 stone design - 1.71 oval centre stone, with 2 0.2 pears on the side. Will also have melee diamonds on the band. The wax mould came out beautifully!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the oval. Went to JP with the intention of getting either the cushion Brellia or decagon and came away with a love for the oval's feminine shape. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Mind sharing the video? Can't find it on their website.
