12 days post op?

Still lots of fluctuations

in my first 2-3 months, lots of uncertainties like blurry vision, pain, something stuck in the eye kind of feeling.

in short, some of these are due to
- dry eyes
- side effects from steroid drops (this need to check with the doc as I myself got strong reactions to one of the drops and cause my eye pressure to shoot up alot, and caused my vision to become like myopic again, even to the extent of almost -2.00 power, it was that bad)

as long the flap are intact and healing well, eye pressure all normal, i guess it will take some time to settle down.

But then again, only you yourself know as its ur own eyes. dont take it lightly and seek professional consultation if you feel theres a need to

The pain has been improving everyday so I think it's fine? And judging from your experience I guess I'm just paranoid, but I'll take note to seek help if it gets worse. Thanks for the reassurance 😁

Too scared to go for lasik as it is irreversible if done improperly, still wearing specs and occasionally contact lenses.

Same, I have terrible nearsightedness and astigmatism and have been wearing my glasses and contact lenses since highschool. During my grandma's cataract surgery her ophthalmo Dr Steve Seah recommended I get LASIK already :D it would be good to finally get 20/20 vision tho.

if i can wear contact lenses i dont mind. But having tried many times and many different brands, i have no problems putting the lenses in my eyes but i will feel damn uncomfortable after a while and just wanna pull it out. The feeling is just damn irritating. So i can never wear contacts whole day... 1-2hrs max

Spectacles.. my face/head is big so i have problems finding a comfortable pair. managed to find one brand that really suits me and comfortable to wear. but it cost 2k avg to make. also, it doesnt help when my kids play with me and bent the specs easily... so really not worth

Hi all! I have benefitted a lot from this lasik thread, hence created an acc to share my experience.

I went for a pre-lasik assessment with Shinagawa earlier this week but was sadly rejected due to thin cornea and high degree. Doc Lee mentioned my eye balls werent in the best shaped as well.

It's quite a bummer as I have researched on the type of lasik I wld like to do, recovery time, what to expect etc. Understand from the earlier posts in this thread that Doc Lee is quite on the conservative side (this thread is really useful! haha)

The entire assessment process was relatively quick (~1hr), staff & receptionist were extremely helpful and calming. Did a few tests on 6 machines approximately.

If you are considering lasik, just go for the pre-assessment test first. You may receive the go-ahead from the doc/ be like me, contemplating if it is worth to seek a second doc's assessment. After all, the risk appetite of each doc is diff. I feel that Doc Lee is quite ethical and the dilemma wld be - if the 2nd doc gives the green light, should I go ahead with Lasik? Or seek a 3rd doc's opinion? Even if the 2nd and 3rd doc says I'm ok, should I proceed? Doc Lee's voice of rejection is bugging my mind hahaha.

Lasik experience @ Dr Natasha Lim

I’m here to share my experience @ Dr Natasha Lim Eye Center. It has been 10 days since I’ve undergone iDesign iLasik there and I’m happy to say that I have absolutely no regrets.
I opted for same day assessment and surgery as Im really eager to get rid of my glasses, which fogs up more often than not during this rainy season especially with my mask on.

Everything felt right the moment I stepped in. I was greeted with friendly receptionists, whom then handed me a paper bag with brochures of my procedure. They to provide light refreshments as well. $5 screening from optometrist was very very comprehensive and they used the iDesign advanced wavescan to get a 3D image of your eye.

You will then have a consultation with Dr Natasha and she’ll advise you according to your scan. I was told that my chances of regression is <1% due to my thick cornea and scans and I should expect quick recovery and good visual outcome. She also answered all my doubts and queries well and in detail.

The whole procedure was smooth due to Dr Natasha’s skilled hands and calmly instructed words. Do as you’re told and you’ll have nothing to worry. Whole process took more or less 30mins.

Based on personal experience, my first 4 hours was the worst! Kept on tearing non stop and the best remedy was to sleep!

Came back 2 days later for post op review as was told that I have better than 20/20 vision and most importantly, no flap complication and my eyes are healing really well. I can proceed with showering my hair and go for a run without worrying.

I am here to commend Dr Natasha Lim and her team for doing a great job and I’m really a satisfied patient. For those who’re looking for a clinic for better vision, I sincerely recommend getting it done here.

Hi all, I recently did my bladeless lasik and cross-linking at EEC by Julian Theng. It has been 12 days since and so far there has been lots of fluctuations. My main concern however is this stinging pain in my right eye since day 8.

Day 1: immediately post op, vision is blurry, likely due to the bandage lens. However it clears up almost immediately after eye drops.
Day 2: vision started clearing up after the lens was removed during review.
Day 3-7: gradual improvements everyday, but everyday I woke up feeling some sort of discomfort. Just felt like something wasn't set in place comfortably. Also had a review with Dr Val Phua who assured me all is fine.
Day 8: applied tobradex along with timolol the night before as instructed and woke up with a stinging sharp pain in my right eye and blurry vision.
Day 9: panicked and went back for consultation due to the pain and inconsistent vision. Again, Dr Val said all was fine, but to revert to my initial post op set of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops since my eyes seemed to react strongly to tobradex.
Day 10-12: woke up with slightly milder pain in right eye everyday. Vision is very inconsistent with my right eye. Sometimes it's extremely sharp, sometimes it's blur af and it feels like I have mild myopia. The pain is still there and it's bothering me a lot.

Judging from a lot of the comments, I guess this is normal? I just need some reassurance as I have been using glasses since I was 4 for 24 years and I jumped in without much research. Now I'm panicking badly over the inconsistent acuity. Should all these issues be clearing up within a few months?

Hello, hope you are doing well so far.

I'm looking to do Lasik PRK with Dr Lynn Yeo because she did lasik for my mom many years ago and she recommended me to look for Dr Yeo. Since she is with Eagle eye center right now, do you or anyone here in this forum has referral code to share with me? my email is melodyteoh88@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Hi, based on this thread I've seen many go for Epi-lasik or bladeless Lasik. Any reason why people are not opting for TransPRK from Dr Tony Ho?

Hoping to consider my options before i book an appointment

I have no regrets doing Intralase Lasik at Shinagawa with Dr Lee.

1-2days vision slightly blur. Just sleep it away and put eye drops.

3-4days post-op, I can resume my usual routine.

>1week, I am feeling that my eyes are better and better each day.

Slight side effects of halo and dry eyes but i believe it will go away soon.

Hi Haiqalmazlan,

I’m considering to go to Dr Natasha Lim as well after reading this forum and about idesign ilasik.

Can you let me know what’s your degree and astig?

My degree is about 450 and 275 astig for left eye and 500 plus 175 astig for right.

Shinagawa’s Dr Lee recommended me to go for intralase lasik with cross linking. My cornea thickness is slightly below average, didn’t ask for micron number.

Scheduled an assessment with Dr Natasha Lim on Feb 18.

My considerations are: should I check with Dr Nat whether I should add on CXL?

Cost of lasik with CXL is approx 5k for eagle eye, shinagawa and Dr Nat.

Also, the optician and receptionists mentioned that if cross linking is required, I can claim Medisave on that portion.

Last consideration after reading the forum is to visit clear vision to find Dr Ho to do Trans PRK.

Anyone can advise? :)

Thanks in advance!

Kinda surprised not seeing much posts here on SNEC though I think they did a fantastic job on my recent bladeless lasik with Dr Rosman. Highly professional, attention to detail, no BS or hard sell.

Thought of sharing my 1-month post lasik journey here that might benefit folks that are considering doing lasik.

Initially, I was on the fence if I wanted lasik as I only have mild degrees around -1.50 power and -0.75 astig both eyes, but due to astig I have to wear glasses to see clearly. Nevertheless, I told myself to give it a try, if I fail SNEC lasik pre-assessment I will not pursue this idea.

SNEC lasik pre-assessment was quite lengthy, took me almost 2 hours to complete all the stations. The last station was consultation with Dr Rosman and was told I am eligible for bladeless lasik. But he highlighted I'm wearing glasses with Zeiss digital progressive lenses might cause me hard to focus near objects after lasik. Due to eyes muscles might get too used close focus assisted by the progressive lense. Told me to switch to standard lenses first before deciding lasik to ensure that I can focus near without glasses. I asked the doc if I should opt for a newer technique like SMILE or anything else, and he convinced me that it's unnecessary.

Dr Rosman advice was on point, took me 3 months to rebuild my eyes muscles after getting away from progressive lenses. The first 2 months without the progressive digital lenses, my eyes were tired so quickly with my computer work. I can't imagine if I have to recover from lasik surgery and getting used with the new eyesight at the same time.

During the surgery day, I requested to reassess my eyesight to make sure my eyes are okays, though it wasn't necessary. The whole surgery process was well organised, took around 2 hours. Waited for 3 patients in front of my queue, while waiting the nurses helped me with the prep work e.g. eyes cleaning, eye drops, etc.

Day 1: After lasik, can't see clearly, around 70% vision, due to the water and bubbles in eyes, everything is very bright. Able to walk. Had post-operation photo session with Dr Rosman thought that was a lovely touch for memory. Was advised not to nap and drip Alcon natural tears, antibiotic and steroid eye drops according to the schedule. Can feel the soreness in eyes after 3 hours.
Day 2: Morning doc check-up, the edges are healing well. Everything is still very bright, need to wear sunglasses even indoors. Eyes soreness persist for the next few days. Vision is getting better, but the eye drops can cause vision blurriness. Can watch TV and mobile phone with sunglasses. Able to bath but try not to get water into the eyes.
Day 3 - 6: The eyes are dry and need constant eyes lubricant. Vision is good with sunglasses as everything is still quite bright. Able to WFH.
Day 7: 1-week post-lasik doc check-up, my right eye is more sensitive than left, it's dryer, and the doc found some dry spots on my right eye. Doc prescribed Vidisic gel to use before sleep and after wake up for my right eye. Edges are healing well, and vision is 20/20. It can be quite uncomfortable due to the dryness on my right eye. Doc requested to come back after 2 weeks instead of 1 month later to ensure my right eye is doing well. Stopped using antibiotic and steroid eye drops.
Day 8 - Week 3: Still battling the dryness on my right eye but getting better, thanks to Vidisic gel. The left eye took it like a champion, doesn't disturb much after the 1st week. Can drive during night time, starburst effect around lights but not too bad.
Week 3: Week 3 check-up, the doc said eyes are healing well, vision slightly better than 20/20, can resume lifestyle as per normal, next appointment 3 months later. But my right eye is still dry, and the doc prescribed Alcon Systane Ultra High Performance. It was a huge lifesaver. Not sure why Systane wasn't prescribed earlier, I think I am allergic to Alcon natural tears hence it wasn't sitting well for my right eye.
Week 4: Eyes are much comfortable now, can withstand ceiling fan without constant nagging. Drip Systane every 3 hours. Stopped Vidisic gel. Other than Systane Ultra, my right eye will sting when I use different eye drops hence I only use Systane Ultra now. Still can feel a little bit gritty on both eyes after waking up but more manageable now.

All in all, I had no regret and so happy that I pressed ahead with lasik, although my wife and family were quite sceptical on the procedure.

tldr quick tips:
- If you are using progressive lenses like Zeiss Digital lenses, get yourself used with normal lenses before lasik
- Finding the right eye drops is important
- Follow the doctor care instruction religiously
- Eat proper food

Hi,

I am interested to go for Dr Natasha Lim for lasik too.

Her staff told me that we can actually go home on our own via public transport (e.g. MRT) post-surgery (I can't find someone to accompany me to the appointment unless I do it during the holidays), but you mentioned that you keep on tearing during the first 4 hours? So is it possible to go home on your own?

Hi guys! An update - I managed to go for consultation at both CV and EEC in the past 2 weeks. However I feel that the service level at both centers fell short of Shinagawa’s? I’m not sure if it’s because I visited both centers on very busy days. I only spoke to Dr Tony Ho for 5mins, the whole process felt very rushed and for EEC, I was booked under JT - same issue, also only spoke to me for 5mins. The discussion of which type of lasik to go for etc was actually done by his colleague, whom they call a Counsellor? They did offer same day surgery and consultation, but I told them I needed more time to think... if all is ok then I will reply them this week for an appt. So torn right now...

ICL

Hello, I decided to register as a member here as I realised there isn't much information about ICL here and would like to share some of my experience.

I have always had terrible eyesight since young (started wearing glasses at K1) and my eyesight would deteriorate at an alarming rate of about -1.00 every year. By the time my eyesight stabilized, I was about -10.00 for both eyes with astig of around -2.00 each. My spectacle lens are so thick that it affected my confidence. My parents would not let me get contact lens so I had to seek an optician secretly and paid for them myself when I was 16. Bioinfinity Toric by coopervision is a really good brand by the way, if you experience dry eyes after wearing contact lenses for a few hours, it really saved my life after switching over from Biomedic Toric.

About 2 years ago, I went to Shinagawa Eye Centre to do a pre-lasik assessment and consulted Dr Lee. I was told that as my degree is too high, and most of the cornea would have to be shaved away if I were to do lasik, and that would leave me with a cornea that is too thin and weak. Dr Lee recommended me to do ICL but Shinagawa did not provide that service. I looked up the price of ICL and decided it was too costly.

Just two days ago, I went to do another pre-lasik assessment at SNEC as it was stated on their website that the ICL surgery fee is S$6,131.10 to S$6,837.30 (I think it's for one eye). I went through all the various tests, eye pressure test, cornea measurements etc (it took about 2 hours for the tests) and consulted Senior Consultant Dr Rosman. He told me that ICL is more suitable for me than LASIK too but he told me that the distance between my cornea to the lens in my eye just fell short of about 0.13mm from the recommended distance (3.00 mm). The minimum distance required for ICL is 2.8 mm and mine was 2.87 mm. He told me there is a risk of cataract etc and didn't seem very confident of doing the surgery for me.

I told the Dr I would think about it and asked for the full results report but was only given the refraction report (just measurement of my eye power with and without the cycloplegic eye drops). Also, I was quoted an estimate of S$14,059.80 to S$15,172.60 of surgery fee for ICL for BOTH eyes. The total consultation fee at SNEC was more expensive than I thought too - $299 for a senior consultant. I decided to look for another specialist for a second opinion and immediately made an appointment at Eagle Eye the following day.

I chose Dr Val Phua, a consultant, but specializes in ICL. He was previously from SNEC too. I still had to go through all the pre-lasik assessments even though I showed them the report from SNEC. It was really crowded at the clinic at King Albert Park and the wait was really long. I went there at 1pm and left at 5pm. When I met Dr Val Phua, he asked about my concerns and he said the distance between my cornea to lens is about 3.10 mm and said I was suitable for ICL, although he did mention my cornea is slightly irregular shaped. He showed my the surgery fees which was about $8.5k for BOTH eyes(not incl other assessments post surgery) and I was thinking this should be the right amount that I read in the forums!

I was appalled as to why SNEC had higher rates than a private clinic.. and it's a significantly higher rate (almost 2 times!) Is it because SNEC specialises more on medical conditions pertaining to the eye and not that much on cosmetic surgeries?

Anyway, I felt like Dr Val Phua was more confident and reassured me that the side effects like cataract only happens to very few people and I am going ahead for the surgery! Will update my recovery process when the surgery is completed :)

Hi everyone, as mentioned, here’s my lasik experience with Dr Natasha Lim.

As usual, I did my fair amount of research and asking around before I decided to go for lasik.

After filtering through the forum and recommendations by friends, I shortlisted either Dr Lee Shao Bin @ Shinagawa or Dr Natasha Lim @ Dr Natasha Lim eye clinic.

Considerations factor (TLDR)

1. Dr Lee is famous for being ethical and safe in his practises. He will not hesitate to reject you if you are not suitable or safe to do lasik.

2. Dr Natasha has great reviews on Google and Facebook. idesign ilasik is the most advanced technology for intralase lasik. This helps better for correcting astigmatism (more accurate) and better night vision.

My full experience:

I went to Shinagawa to perform my lasik suitability assessment and was cleared by Dr Lee to do intralase lasik with cornea cross linking as my degree was around 500 myopia and 175/275 astig. Cornea thickness around 540 micron (slightly lower than average of 550) was quite happy to be given green light by him.

I then proceeded to book with Dr Natasha Lim clinic for eye assessment, consultation and surgery on the same day.

On D-day, the whole experience took about 4.5 hours from start till procedure. Assessments took 2-2.5 hours (they were pretty thorough with checking, had to repeat a few tests for accuracy). Consultation was pretty assuring. Kudos to her nurses and opticians for being professional and patiently answering my queries and handling my assessments as well.

Actual procedure actually took less than a few minutes. Cutting of lasik flap is 17s per eye, correction of degree by laser 40s per eye and cross linking 60s per eye. Rest of the time was spent cleaning up and assuring that I’m doing great. Side note: Dr Lim reminded me of a gentle yoga instructor with a mother’s touch. You’d definitely feel at peace with her.

Day 1. Right after surgery my eyes were hazy and felt dry. Slight discomfort, feels almost as if like you’ve worn contact lens for an extended period of time. Still managed to go out for dinner with the help of shades though. Do be diligent to apply the eye medication every 2 hours for the first day!

Day 2. It’s really a life changing experience on the morning of day 2. My vision has been restored! Feels like getting a new lease of life. The euphoria of seeing my loved ones without specs feels amazing. I’d be heading to the clinic for my day 2 review later.

Thanks for reading, please feel free to shoot me any questions here!
