What’s that brown line at edge of wall corner? Hope it’s not termite trail...
You will need professional pest control company to eradicate if really termite....

If you only have a single point, even if you can find the incoming at the riser box, not too sure how it going to help at all since you can't connect 2 or more points together (e.g. MoCA between living room and bed room).

So looks like wiring a cat6 cable or wireless mesh network are some of the options you can consider.

Old HDB do not have coaxial point everywhere. Last time, they offered free for 1st point only. Anything else need to pay. So most old units have only a single point.
Search in Google for "coaxial f-type female" connector to get an idea how it looks like.

Yes that is true. My HDB flat built in 1998 has only one SCV cable entry point in the master room, but the previous owner did the renovation in 2002 and added two more points in the living room and one of the common rooms. The other common room does not have the point.

Now I am using power line adapters across three rooms to get 100Mbps - 200Mbps. So far I do not see the need yet for Moca though. I also highly suspected that the quality of the connection is not good in the living room cable point as I got interference last time for Ch5 free to air analog broadcast, before I subscribed to SingTel Fibre Internet and TV back in Feb 2012.

The white D-Link AV2000 adapter is next to the SCV Cable entry point.

How to test the cable is good?

I tried to setup the moca (actiontec WCB3000N) sometime ago, and turns out that they don't link on one cable. any one knows how to test the cable?
I want to try gocoax moca 2.5 if the cable is fine.

It the set still available? moca 2.5?

So it turns out that my rented flat is so old it doesn't even have coax wiring, or at least the landlord didnt even bother installing because I don't think my neighbours could have lived without cable TV for so long. As such, my only solution is to ask Ayub to lay a cable in my house from the living to the bedroom.

So I now have two goCoax units + a POE filter that I'm willing to let go at a discount. PM me if interested!

Is the set still available and is moca 2.5?

I bought two units of Gocoax MoCA 2.5 from Amazon. Tested them out once. Working fine. Decided I don't need them as my home is wired with LAN points. Willing to sell them at reasonable price. PM me if interested.
I bought one unit of Gocoxial from Amazon US to use with an existing pair from Actiontec 2.0 two months ago. So far, no problems.

Reporting a successful set up

Hi I am living in an old condo (Completion Year 1997). I have 3 SCV points, two are dual points labeled:
1. TV
2. FM
The 3rd point is an unlabelled point which i assumed is TV.

The unlabelled point was at the furtherest wall from the front door. I have been surviving off 1 gig power over ethernet and mesh which proved underwhelming due to the power circuit configuration and multiple walls in my apartment.

I connected two gocoax adapters to two furthest points using the TV connection. Initially, the connection did not work: the Coax adapter power was solid green, ethernet blinking, but the Moca LED was off. I logged into the gocoax management web portal but could not find anything there that would help.

My condo technician agreed to open the outside riser (it took some explaining and persuading). In the riser was a green SCV panel with 8 coax points, 3 inserted cables were labeled with my apartment number so I deduced the three TV points may go directly to the riser panel. The panel was called RMT108 BC 5-1000MHz. I found an old 3-way splitter, and used it to connect the three cables that were connected to the riser panel. Once connected, magically I instantly began enjoying a house-wide 1 gigabit network.

From my furtherest point, my internet speed improved from 40-70Mbs download speed (using 1-gig power over ethernet) to 500-700 Mbs (using coax). Upload speed is consistently >940 Mbs.

Not very good setup with gocoax moca 2.5

Phy link rate from the living room to scv box, connector with a joint and a patch cable, 1380,
Phy link rate from scv box to a bedroom, 3400,
however, could not link-up between the living room to bedroom, bypass the scv splitter, joint the cable from living room to the cable from bedroom directly in the scv box.

Does anybody have any comments?

Thanks,

Considering to by one more pare of gocoax to bridge between 2 cables inside the scv box.

Anyone selling spare gocoax 2.5?

I have been reading this with great interest and was tempted to start a new project for home networking. However, I was wondering, for newer flats built after the death of cable tv, are these coaxial points still being installed?

I ask because I'm definitely going to shift at some point in the future and possibly to a new BTO. Wonder if anyone living in the newer estates can shed some light on their cabling.
