hi,

Wondering can anyone help.

I am currently using Asrock X570-i motherboard with Ryzen 7 3800X + 2 x 16gb 3200mhz CL14 + RTX 3080 Ti FE.
I suspect one of my ram channel is spoil cuz system cannot post when I insert both Dram. It just goes into the on/off mode cycle.

Anyway I tested with one ram each and was able to log into windows, where system shows 16gb of ram and I was able to activate XMP for that single slot in bios. Both ram was tested out like that and both worked individually. Oh by the way bios is updated to latest for the Asrock.

So that's why I suspect one of the channel is spoil (the one further away from the CPU). I wanted to RMA but I will need a new motherboard to replace the Asrock while its away for few months.

So I got a Asus ROG Strix B550i, transfer everything over and powered on....yellow led and cannot post. Everything is working, fans, GPU is spinning, lights etc. Transfer my system back to Asrock and system work with single 16gb ram.

I brought the B550i to service ctr and bios was updated to latest (2407 I think) and technician was able to go into bios. So new board was fine and in working condition.

I went back home and try it out on my system.. same result.. with yellow led. Try with one ram, change new PCI-E 4.0 riser cable to try, try on older 2400mhz 4gb ram x 2. All fail.

I borrowed a brand new Asus X570i board to try and the result is the same: yellow led and cannot post into bios at all.

Both new motherboard is working
Both my ram is ok
GPU working (with Asrock motherboard)

What can be the cause/s of this problem? Can enlighten me please? Million thanks

why not just borrow another CPU to try and see whether indeed is the CPU?

Might be hard to borrow. I was thinking of going SLS and get one of the repair shop to verify / confirm my CPU is faulty.

So I went SLS to check out my CPU and both set of rams at PC Care & Solution. Nigel tested with a B550 board and all my items work and posted into bios.

Come back home and slot everything back onto the Asus X570i and same ****...cannot post. Try it out on the new Asus B550i same issue. This time its showing white led light, indicating its VGA.

Transfer back to my Asrock X570i - same issue, only 1 slot of ram work but at least can load into windows.

I am at wits end.... :(

for mitx can bring the boards to nigel test?

tiagong sometimes, casing and board touch and got short possible? or your heat sink washer not install probably? you use mitx casing?

i think asus boards need to connect a fan to main cpu fan header to boot :o

Which parts did you bring to SLS?
CPU, RAM and motherboard?
Graphic card?

If you are using RTX 3080 Ti FE,
- What is your power supply?
- Have you tried without PCI E Raiser cable?
Some cable may not work due to quality issues.
- Have you tried posting with another graphic card?
