Sure there is a small cult following, I didn’t say there’s no demand. But the fact that even the ADs are throwing prices between 35-40% off, and the boutique itself is giving 20-25% off is very telling about the true market demand.
Whereas other brand have waitlists at full retail price.
It's not the same market dynamic... And Seiko has already been raising its prices in recent years.

I can't think of any mainstream entry level brand that doesn't have discount on RRP..

There could be, but Seiko's perpetual 35-40% has got to be among the highest, if not the highest. It's also probably the only brand where the official boutique gives out 20-25% on regular products, not just out-of-season, unless i'm wrong and have been buying everything expensive.

Exactly. I share the same sentiment as you.

another tell tale sign is the lack of second hand resellers that sell non-luxury watches.

the UK portal Watch Finder has such an extensive range of products while in SG, it’s like what people here says. Limited to Rolexes and AP etc in the reseller market.

it’s indicative of the small size of the (non-luxury) watch community
for what need second hand resellers to sell seiko?
you have carousell what.
you want a reseller to buy a used seiko for $50 and sell for $100?

LOL really need to dig further before you make anymore comments

lol yall don't know what you talking about.

there's huge groups of people into seiko's and microbrands here in sg. do some searches in facebooks. there's groups dedicated to that.

there's a small group of people here into sub 2k watches already.
Moi into seikos as well, but moi no money to hoot real Rolex, and scare to scratch it and heart hurt hurt.

Depends on the model, the thing with Seiko is that they have such a wide range and great volume of models that I don't think it's possible to charge RRP for anything other than new releases with high demand.

Same goes for G Shock actually, they will give discounts once the early hype is over.. Of course street price is still better.

Any misalignments you guys can see?

This is purely to train my eye only, I want to be sensitive to misalignments and become a pro in spotting them.

It's a little harder to tell from this picture because the 12 isn't aligned to the 12 on the bezel, but going by that then everything that lines up is misaligned because the bezel isn't squared up with the dial. So the numbers "10" and "20" might be slightly off.

If you were buying a new watch you might want to pay attention to the specks near the 11 marker and between the 12 and the 1 marker, could be something harmless like dust on the glass, or if its something inside then they can have it removed.

the owner of this watch (youtube)
says that the 12 is aligned but the 6 is misaligned almost by a minute

Oh he's probably refering to the chapter ring and not the bezel, in that case "6" can't really see from the photo, but "4", "8" and "9" are slightly off.

Some slight misalignment is expected for this price range though, i'm not sure how helpful it is to be able to see it.

Actually, as the watch is one of the mass produced products, the printing misalignment on the dial and the misalignment of the dial legs’ positions are allowed to some extent; we set the appearance standard.

Meanwhile, we think it is difficult to adjust the misalignment by repair as it is due to a variety factor (e.g. dial print, dial legs).

Therefore, please kindly ask the customer to accept the appearance level by explaining the above and the fact that you explained to the customer before the replacement that it could not be guaranteed that the appearance would be improved dramatically as the watch was within standard originally.
From other watch forums: this is apparently Seiko's reply when people sent in their watches with misalignment.
