PSA for those intending to get the new iPhones and use 5g, and have an Apple watch cellular using Numbershare esim and/or using esim for the iPhone dual sim function on M1 network.

Long story short, after losing my iPhone's esim capability, losing dual sim capability, exchanging an esim for a physical 5g sim, then losing cellular capability on my Apple watch just to enable 5g. I am not able to get 5g still in an area that supposedly has 5g (Sengkang), and now M1 tells me over the phone "they wouldn't recommend me to use 5g first as the network isn't stable" and told to set my phone to 4g instead.

I was MISINFORMED by FIVE different M1 staff. Two at M1 Tampines, 1 at M1 NEX, 2 from M1 Hotline throughout this whole merry go round process.

Been with M1 over a 2 decades as a customer, to be fair through this whole process their customer service had been polite and tried to be helpful. But misonforming the customer 5 times in a row is a bitch much to stomach. Thus I am looking to terminate and port this line out to Singtel. But keeping my other mobile lines and internet with m1.

Just use Singtel. My friend has his iPhone 13 Pro max on 5g working perfectly with Numbershare for his apple watch cellular.

1) Collected my iPhone 13 Pro from M1 Tampines on 27 Sept. Service was great. My setup was iPhone using esim+physical sim for my overseas SIM card, and Apple watch using Numbershare esim for cellular. Everything was working great. As I was entitled to a 5g sim card free as part of the promo, I asked the staff in shop if I could continue to use my esim function on the iPhone and enjoy 5g. She checked with a colleague, and informed me that YES esim supports 5g. I recalled reading on a website esim doesn't support 5g but I had assumed this was a new development from M1. So I left.

2) Few days later. No sign of the 5g signal that supposedly covers more than 50% of SG from M1. Walked into M1 NEX. Was informed by another staff that I was MISINFORMED. Esim does NOT work on 5g. I requested to get a physical 5g sim instead. Forgoing my iPhone dual sim capability. The staff at the shop even ran through my iPhone settings telling me how to turn on 5g SA etc. I left the shop happy. Thinking I was going to get 5g now.

3) still no 5g. On the same night I called into m1. A staff member called Donny now tells me due to some system limitation or glitch" the 5g VAS doesn't work with m1 5g booster. My only solution was to terminate the numbershare service on my apple watch cellular, thus rendering the Apple Watch cellular like an apple watch wifi. I was then given a "workaround" saying m1 could activate numbershare on my wife's m1 sim only line. I asked if this would lead to my wife's incoming calls getting diverted to my phone and was told this wouldn''t, it was only data. I thus agreed thinking this would be the final step to getting my 5g working.

4) still no 5g. Same night I called into M1 again and this time spoke to a CS called Cecilia. She again told me I was MISINFORMED. Firstly. Numbershare CANNOT be activated by M1. It has to be activated by an iPhone user on their Apple watch app. My wife WASN'T even using an iPhone, so this was impossible. Even if she WAS using an iPhone, this would've tagged the Apple watch to her phone not mine. The notifications and calls would be hers, as I suspected. I was then told by Cecilia probably why M1 5g doesn't work with Numbershare was because "iPhone 13 Pro Max uses a different 5g network than the Apple Watch". When I countered with "why can my friend on Singtel use 5g on his iPhone with Numbershare seamlessly then?" She had no answer. I relayed my entire experience to her. And told her I wanted to terminate my m1 contract but requested to have early termination charges and sim/acttivation charges waived. She told me probably a partial waiver of early termination is possible, and the sim and activation charges can be waived. She said she would call me back on Monday evening with an outcome.

any lobang to get applecare plus? should i get anot? lol
It is all up to you. Some would say need, some would say no need.
If you change your phone every year then no need, just get good case and screen protector.
if you like to anyhow throw phone or got butter finger or use your phone without case then should get.

in fact I think for most people no need to get applecare plus.
Well, you can do a pro-rated refund for your AppleCare+ if you are changing phone every year. I am sure most people here been there done that. The process is simple too.
I always believe setup as new is the best
Yes installing the apps and exploring the settings again is tedious ,but it's worth it if battery life matters to you
Apple gave you the feature to transfer data. But well, you do you, I do me.
Apple pay:
1. Face ID your phone
2. Tap it on reader
3. Double click home button
4. Authenticate
5. Double click home button again
All in like above 5secs, all for security
Those above steps were what I did, please correct me if I am wrong
I don't know why would you want to complicate matters. For me it's just

1. Double click the side button
2. Authenticate with Face ID
3. Tap on the reader

You don't need to tap it on the reader just to bring up the wallet interface.

It's 1 more step for better security as compared to an Android.

Thanks for sharing, but 5G is a battery killer in Singapore (and in most countries I believe) because coverage is not good and/or coverage is low in areas with interference (walls, tunnels, buildings, etc...).

This is one reason why I never bothered with 5G as a perk to upgrade to the latest phone. It's still new and will take a couple years before it gets good.

@Jirachi
Been an android user most of the time,so it wasn’t that I wanted to complicate matters doh
Oh, I am not against you or anything. I was an Android user for 10+ years too. Only switched sometime back with the 7 Plus series. Slowly get used to it.

With the Touch ID, I used to tap the reader first, then use the Touch ID to authenticate. Then I realised this cannot be the same when using Face ID.

My normal step of a iPhone user just converted from android will be:
1) Double click on right button
2) forgot to remove mask
3) panic cos got aunties behind me pushing
4) use passcode instead
5) Tap

I believe it will get better in time 😂
Enable express travel card in your iPhone wallet . No need any authentication. Just take out ur phone and tap without unlocking.

No need to get too serious with 5G. Its just a gimmick.
5G is limited and coverage not ready till at least 2025.

As with Android compatible devices that need chromecast or Samsung device(s) that requires Smart Things right? It's a tech that's been working for the longest so what other amazing tech do you expect?
Jus find it amusing and surprising that in today’s tech, iphone and android are linked to different universes of tv. Cannot speak to each other. So exclusive for what man

IPhone 5g apparently set to Auto helps save batt life? On my 13 pro max apparently no issue with batt life

Singtel coverage is not bad alr. All major malls have and in sengkang I got it too. Buy latest phone might as well have it. I'm more pissed my apple watch cellular have to work as a wifi only version cause of m1.limitation which they NEVER MENTIONED

I've always used android since iPhone 6 plus and never went back until my doc asked me to get apple watch for heart tracking. Since then I'm stuck on iPhone 12 pro max and now upgraded to 13 pro max. V happy with camera and battery life..no complains. Smooth and fast

Not enough to justify the cost for me. Its just like 3G and 4G, eventually it will come and become standard when the coverage is wide enough.
