Air conditioning - Any recommendations please?? - Part 2

Hi I am deciding whether to buy daikin ismile (R410) or ismile eco (R32) series air con. Is for my new resale flat that is 5 years old. This will probably not be my last house. We are having a dilemma in choosing which to get .
1) If buy R410 now , the next time that I need to repair probably 5 years later will the spare parts be rare to find or costly since Singapore government going to ban selling of R410 air con therefore parts are going to be limited.

2) if I buy R32 will it be quite unstable cause is only in the market for less than 6 months , few installers said that is new can be unstable and R32 is flammable.
And the spare parts now is more expensive that R410 because majority of people are using R410.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hahas thanks for the sharing ! Because I can’t seem to find review about daikin air con. Contractor kept saying that ismile eco is the very first version so will have a lot of problem unlike ismile air con which have been around for sometime already.

first to be distributed in Singapore, and Singapore is a late adopter for R32 (for whatever reasons). so I reckon hardware wise Daikin has already gone through several years of manufacturing experience. Service personnel wise will be the concern, but there is little difference in the operating mechanism of a R32 aircon vs a R410A aircon, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

Okay thanks for the advise . Likely I will be going for ismile eco, but hope can get it during promotion hahas . Cause the extended warranty promotion expired.

Kitchen, Living room and small walkway to bed rooms.
No doors or partition between these 3 areas

I want to get aircon for living room but only need to cool living room area.

Bedroom 1: 12 sqm, 8200 BTU/hr
Bedroom 2: 11 sqm, 7500 BTU/hr
Bedroom 3: 13.5 sqm, 9200 BTU/hr
Living room (Including Walkway): 29.3 sqm, 20000 BTU/hr
Living room (Excluding Walkway): 25sqm, 17000 BTU/hr

How to calculate aircon BTU needed for my living room? Do I need to include area of walkway and kitchen?
The previous owner is using thicker insulation, can the insulation be reused?
Thinking of getting this set:
MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC SYSTEM 4- MXY4G33VA2 (36500 BTU/hr) / MSXYFN10VE x 3 (9000 BTU/hr) / MSXYFN18VE (18000 BTU/hr)


I understand can only on either 3 bedrooms or 1 living room + 2 bedrooms

MXY4G33VA2 normal rating is only 22,500 BTU, so can only on either 2 x MSXYFN10VE or 1 x MSXYFN18VE.

4G33VA2 is only rated at 22.5K BTU, and with your combination selection, rated at 21.1K BTU.

Even if only switch on 1LR (1x FN18) + 2BR (2x FN10), your effective output is only 9.9K BTU for living room and 5.5K BTU for each bedroom

I think the maximum air-con we will on is 1 LR + 1 BR for now.
Unless got kids then maybe increase to 1 LR + 2 BR.

But it's only if there are guests in our house (which will be rare). If not, the max we would on is 2/3 BR only.

upgrade your output unit.

If you want more cooling capacity, the only option is to top-up to the 4G38VA2 / 5G48VA2 condenser.

If only need MSXYFN18VE which is 17,060 btu for LR, a system 1 MSY-GN18VA (16,378 btu) should be sufficient.
For the other 3 bedroom using MSXYFN10VE (9,550 btu each , 28,650 btu in total), MXY-3G28VA2 will only give you 20,500 btu while MXY-4G38VA2 give you 25,200 btu.
MXY-3G28VA2 will give you 6,483 btu per room
MXY-4G38VA2 will give you 7,950 btu per room.

So I think 1 x system 1 MSY-GN18VA for LR + 1 x system 4 MXY-4G38VA2 for the other 3 bedrooms is a better choice.

Only reason I suggested 3G28VA2 is because the savings between 28VA2 and 38VA2 is considerable enough for a reasonable compromise for when they run the 3rd BR FCU on rare occasions. The 3G28VA2 is still able to supply the 2x BR's FN10s at full capacity.

Still, I wish ME continued having the 2-tick range. The stupidity of chasing 5-ticks while compromising cooling capacity AND charging more is nothing more than an easy money grab by ME. The old 2-tick entry level 3A28VA (25.5K) has more capacity than the 4G38VA2 (25.2K). Combined with crappy aircon salesmen, we get the mess that we have today.

just curious, lets say if my compressor is rated at 6kW, and i only turn on air con for 1 room (9k btu/ 2.6kW), the energy consumption from the wall would it be 6kW or 2.6kW or slightly higher than 2.6kW?

don't confuse cooling capacity vs power consumption rate. in any case, the power consumption will be in line with what is being switched on, a compressor doesn't draw max power consumption all the time.

Using a MXY-3G28VA2 running MSXYFN10VE for 1 room, the total power input (normal rating) is around 0.62kw. The total energy consumption (simplified computation) would be 0.62kw x the operating hours of the compressor. Where I get the 0.62kw, please refer to the official starmex brochure.
