I went to Melt Cafe recently for weekday lunch buffet. Other than seafood platter and sushi/sashimi, the rest of the food we can go to the food stations to get what we want. For the former, you just need to inform the serving staff and they will bring to you.
Actually can get the seafood platter and sashimi ourselves.

They opened up the Japanese counter again (right at the other end)

Are buffet restaurants starting to allow customers to get their food themselves already?

Its self collect rather than self service. You go to the counter where the chef will dish the food for you. So you do not come into contact with the food directly.

Went for lunch at Mitsuba yesterday where they had a 50% off 2nd diner (until 24 Oct)

Food was very decent and a cut above Shin Minori IMHO

Here are some of the better eats

White tuna, swordfish and yellowtail - not often do we get these in a buffet

Tuna belly scraps - nice

Still moist and tender, unlike the deep fried version at Shin Minori

Huge disappointment - this is so hard and looks like they refried it

Overfried IMHO - edible but the one from Tasty Loong is so much better

I miss the white tuna. Swordfish and yellowtail are available at most Japanese buffets.
