After I change my router to mesh network, I no longer can connect my rm 3 pro to the network.. even when I change the ssid or reset the device.. Anyone encounter before?
Hi. This is most likely due to the WPA security level of your router.
Over the past 1 month, I've been using a few routers in the home as an experiment to cover a deadzone in my house. So basically, I switch routers back and forth between my Netgear XR500 and the Asus AX11000 in extender mode and am now using 2 Asus AX11000; 1 as an Access Point and the other in Mesh mode.
Both my Netgear and Asus routers have been configured with the same SSID and password along with the same WPA security settings. This means seamless connection for all devices regardless of which router I am currently using since connection wise.
Never had issues with any of my IoT devices as a result.
When I do this, I make sure that the new Asus AX11000 are configured to have the exact same settings as they have before.
For maximum compatibility with your IoT devices, you should set your 2.4GHz SSID to have a WPA security of WPA & WPA2. The 2.4Ghz band is usually what most of our IoT devices use. I once tried setting the WPA to WPA2 & WPA3. It caused my Yeelink Lightstrip to completely drop out of the network and not being able to reconnect. So you'll have to use the lower WPA security taking note that devices on 2.4GHz usual stick to low WPA security settings.
Then you can set your 5GHz SSID to have a WPA security of WPA2 and WPA3 since these are mainly devices that are also equipped with those WPA security settings on them as well.
Hopefully this will help solve your issue even though it is more than a month late to come help with your issue.
