Anyone try their 5G package? It seems that the 5G network speed is even lower than 4G.
BTW I am using POCO F3. May be phone not supported?
On ip12p and ip13p it’s same or faster than 4G from my experience. Most Speedtest is 100+mbps download. Highest I’ve seen is 300+mbps down.

Is there any special setting to enable volte on giga? Volte doesn't work on my Poco F3. When I use circle sim on same phone, volte immediately enabled.

I spotted some difference with older and newer giga subscription related to VoLTE support.

For my older active giga subscription, I'm able to connect to the proper "ims" APN and I'm issued with an Internal IP that cannot be use to surf net. This means that my older giga subscription can connect to the IMS network APN and this is why VoLTE works.

While for my newer giga subscription, the "ims" APN connection issue me a Internet accessible IP which I can use to surf net. This is why my new giga subscription cannot connect to VoLTE.

Maybe to check if you are able to connect to VoLTE network, you an create a new APN call "ims" and the APN type is "default, supl".

If the 4G Data Logo show up and you can still surf net, means your subscription do not have access to VoLTE network.

If the 4G Data Logo show up and you cannot access to Internet, means giga has enable VoLTE access to your subscription. Just that the phone can't support the VoLTE at the mobile phone firmware level.

I found the data not running sometimes on some 5G area. But if you referring to peak speed, I would say when I'm in 5G coverage, it tends to outperform 4G. My current best 5G speedtest is 336mbps down 72mbps up. 4G hardly reach that speed but it's nowhere near the best performance. Besides that, Giga is only running on 5G NSA so the difference with 4G is not as huge.

Btw, I'm experiencing the same thing as last time when I was on Starhub sim only. The network tends to stuck sometimes and actually happen at quite many places. I came from M1, for this I would say Starhub is not doing as good as M1. Maybe I should go back to test out Singtel network (after many years) to see whether Singtel suffers the same too but based on my usage patterns, M1 actually outperform on network stability but not on coverage/speed.

Hi is it still the case where we have up to 29-30 days to activate giga sim? Thanks!
I think it is within 7 days.

Btw, I am not able to send Sms - error 38.
Tried below but still not able to send out SMS.

  1. In the dialer enter *#*#4636#*#*
  2. Select Phone Information under Testing menu.
  3. Scroll down to SMSC setting.
  4. Refresh the setting and it shows exactly as "+6598540020",145
Also tested entering
the code - #33*1234*16#

i have used starhub -> singtel -> m1.

i would say that i prefer starhub -> m1 -> singtel so far.

starhub wins in terms of overall speed and coverage. overall my previous experience with starhub is quite good. 4G speed can easily hit between 50 to 100Mbps range for most places.

m1 is good in terms of latency which is better for mobile gaming but their speed is always the lowest among the three and in terms of coverage, they do have more blind spots at certain specific locations, for example, inside certain merchants but not outside. for example you may have zero coverage totally inside certain restaurants in springleaf. speed wise mostly between 20 to 30Mbps, never hit above 50Mbps most of the time unless outdoor at certain places.

Singtel has the good coverage and speed at most places but the latency is not really that good, and they do have blind spots too for example at my house my own room. 4G speed can easily hit between 50 to 100Mbps range for most places. outdoor can hit above 100Mbps sometimes also.

Really if you ask me right now, I would rate Giga (Starhub) below M1 in terms of stability. I'm playing game, with M1, I can play the game smoothly from my place to my workplace on bus/MRT with maybe just 1 disruption or none. With starhub, same route on bus, I will go through 3-4 areas where the network just suddenly gone dead and stop transferring data, in game ping from 1XXms jump to 999ms and nothing is moving. Even videos will suddenly stop loading. Really no idea what's happening but this is also what I've experienced last time on Starhub sim only plan. Weird... I thought it would've improved. Too bad. Maybe will try Gomo. If Gomo also not doing well, I think I'll move to Circles Life with M1 network + VoLTE.

Both Starhub and giga are on the same network, not sure why you thought it would have made any difference ? Same reason why I wouldn't go for any telco or mvno that's on M1 network even if the price is good. Because it just doesn't work well for my commute route.

Anyone of you have encounter this weird issue/bug that you have called out to unknown number and people have called back to say that they received a missed call from your number?
