Has anyone used TD for US index futures trading? What is the margin for day trading? I don't seem to find an option in the sign up for new account that mentions futures trading. Overall TD doesn't seem to be convenient for futures trading as compared to AMP futures for example.

Can ask a few questions?

1. To enable life data = $500 one-time?
2. To enable active day trading = $2000 in account permanently, then $X amount for whatever you want to buy?
3. To enable >3 trades per day = $25000 in account permanently, then $X amount for whatever you want to buy?
4. Is IBKR an overall brokerage since it doesn't have these limitations?

from TDA website:

There is no minimum amount to open an account. We recommend people start with at least USD$3,500. If you do fund with at least USD$3,500, we will rebate your wire fee up to USD$100. You need USD$25,000 to actively day trade, USD$5,000 to sell options naked, and USD$2,000 to have margin capability in your account. At a minimum, you need at least USD$500 to receive live real time data.

you don need to keep US$500 cash to get live data just need min US$500 of assets i guess
so TDA does not want people to just apply the account to enjoy live data without trading with their platform.

Opened a TDA account and put in 100k. But every put option I sell takes up the full value of the shares of my buying power. Can only sell a couple of puts....

Wrote in and was told mine is. Tier 2 margin account, after I filled up the account upgrade form.

Anyone knows how to fill in the account upgrade form in the right way to get to tier 3 ?

My friend ac on tier 4, 4 AAPL options only take up 3k of buying power!
