Spent more time with the camera.

tried playing around with longer exposure using tripod plus nd filter. the cheap variable one i have quality seem kinda meh, ordered another one that's fixed, which will hopefully be better. a few things that I wish Sony would add to their camera apps though. the main thing would be focus peaking for both the apps. it can be a bit more challenging to make sure shots are perfectly in focus on a smaller viewfinder, especially when using nd filter. Another would be the addition of an on-screen shutter button for other photo modes that isn't Basic. tapping on screen is just so much easier to me compared to physically pressing a button, especially with a case on the phone... or having a tap to focus + capture feature like on some cameras would be fine too.

Anyway, really liking the 2.9X telephoto camera.

well, based on this reviewer in India, the phone feels less warm than the 1iii? But sd888 is definitely a more power hungry and easy to warm up chip based my experience with other phones with that chip.

Thanks, hmm. sounds like a proper test in the Sony shops will be needed to find out how different they are

Any recommendation for best price to get the Xperia 5 iii
since only sony is selling them, probably have to wait for next round of coupons from lazada or shopee already. maybe 1.1/new year sale or something like that. If not will be to go for export sets already.

Hi guys, just got my a Xperia 5 III. I'm setting up my device and I realized there's no NFC quick tile in the notification pull down menu. Can anyone confirm this or is it just my device

don't have it on mine too. thought it was normal though since sony OS is more similar to stock android and IIRC the pixel devices I've used with Android 11 don't have that too. haven't used sony in a while so can't say about other recent sony phones, but other OEMs like Samsung, LG do have them.

Since xperia 1II we discovered that it does not have on menu. I leave it turned on throughout and forget about it. Easier for Google pay / paywave transactions.

It appear for me on the pull down menu the first time I turned on NFC. It then disappear the first time I turn it off via the pull down menu and that was the last time I saw it. Did some quick search on the web and it seems to be a Google decision because "security"

I turn it off regularly as it always read my staff pass when I pocket them together. Always giving off vibration. Hopefully it comes back in an update. Very handy feature.

In other news, any recommendation for tempered glass? One that doesn't interfere with proximity sensor and decent coverage on the curved edges

Based on what I gathered, it doesn't seems likely unless Google decided to change things yet again. I think I read somewhere you might be able to get it back if you're willing to mess with ADB.

The tempered glass I got from devilcase (US store) works fine. Just one thing, I'm not sure if the width is a few mm too short or I applied it poorly, but I can see a thin line of the pixel lighting up from certain angles.. It's pretty annoying tbh

Just switch to this phone from Xperia XZ2 and have 2 qns for current owners too :)

1. The screenshot hotkey (Vol Down + Power Key) does it actually works as I am not able to do this to capture the home screen.

2. XZ2 has a feature which works with flip cases, as in when close my casing, the phone screen will actually turn off. I am not able to find this in 5 III anymore.

1. From the task manager, there is a screenshot utility that will capture the windows currently selected. Alternatively you can download a app that has a floating icon to capture screenshots https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdiwebma.screenshot

Are you all planning to update to Android 12 once it's release? I'm probably going to wait for a bit.. Haven't really heard anything great about 12 so far and 11 is working fine?

Also, anyone else have trace together app randomly popping up in the background after killing the app and turning off bluetooth?

Seems like Android 12 might be able to let us customize the useless Google Assistant physical button.
